SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - A black Cadillac hearse arrived at the hilltop library that bears the name of former President Ronald Reagan (news - web sites) on Wednesday morning for the first leg of his journey to Washington for state funeral ceremonies.
Fox News says coverage is to begin at 5 p.m. eastern. Local Los Angeles television shows Air Force One poised and ready at Pt. Mugu.

MSNBC can't say often enough that President and Mrs. Reagan began planning this funeral from the day they left The White House. I'm waiting for them to tell viewers that EVERY president leaving office is required to do the same thing. Waiting, but not holding my breath. SOOOO catty to leave the impression that the Reagans connived to exploit this event for self-glorification, and that's exactly what they are doing!
And another thing I noticed this morning. MSNBC is playing recorded tributes by prominent people as a time filler, with appropriate music and a portrait of the person speaking. Three times already I've watched Bill Clinton doing his thing! He says, with no credit to Reagan, "Reagan was president when communism was defeated."
On this occasion, I will withhold catty remarks about the appropriateness of birkenstocks! (I should just be glad Ron has a wife, no matter what she has on her feet.)

Trace Gallagher on FoxNews states that a crowd of about 1000 (all base related persons) are there to watch. The base isn't open to the outside public.

Evidently, Peter Jennings couldn't help but editorialize, stating that the Reagan family was "dysfunctional" until President Reagan became ill, then they reconciled.
What is wrong with his ilk?
That's just a cruel thing to say as pictures of the hearse are slowly moving across our TV screens.
