I kind of feel sorry for Michael, since he seems a bit excluded in those family pics.

We don't know that he was excluded. He grieved in his own personal way. Just because he was quiet doesn't mean he was excluded.
I know Maureen Reagan passed away.
After watching the private Reagan family viewing on CSPAN,
They showed Michael Reagan entering and giving his respects
ALL BY HIMSELF.
I don't know if that was because of schedule,or because of
some sort of estranged family problem......

I'm surprised that I'd never noticed before, but I was watching something that showed some footage of Maureen Reagan, and I was amazed at how much she looked like her Mother, Jane Wyman, especially around her eyes!
No. She said it was too long ago and that she wouldn't attend. They divorced in '48...
There does seem to be a bit of distance between Michael's family and the rest. His only fault may be that he tries too hard, and maybe they feel he's exploited his name somehow. I'm not agreeing, just guessing that, with Patti and Ron resenting that they didn't get more from their dad, it wouldn't be surprising that they wouldn't look kindly on anyone who carried their dad's torch higher than they did. I think that's why Ron has problems with George W. Bush... it must burn him to hear so many compare Bush with his dad. In fact, W. is much more like Reagan than he is GHWBush.
As for Jane Wyman, I don't think there's been any formal statement from her...just word that she wouldn't appear and had told friends, in effect, "It was so long ago..."
