Actually, the way it works (at least from what I saw) is that the security stations on the way to the library have a list of people who are guests or VIPs. People on the list arrived anytime they wanted and there was a reception area for when they arrived. They were escorted in, to the rotunda and escorted out.

From what I gathered, public officials and politicians, among others, were on that list and came and went at their leisure.

Around 10:30 last night there were a few cars that were pulling up to see the President.

I'm sure the respect accorded to Kerry was on account of the general nature of the Reagan adminstration who were volunteering to help out, and stood in direct contrast to any kind of respect conservatives would be shown and a similiar liberal event.

Pretty morbid to have someone video you with a coffin in the background. That is just plain creepy???

Pray for W and Saint Nancy

This is going to hurt Kerry. How do we know? The media is not covering this or giving it very very very quick passing coverage.

He was and total opposition to everything Ronald Reagan did. He will be attending the Funeral, this was a BLATENT photo-op. It is morally repugnant.

In his private thoughts I am willing to bet Kerry vowed to undow all that reagan accomplished. If it was up to kerry the USsr would still exist.

(with the UN resolution passing unanimously today, kerry lost yet another talking point. Another reason for him to morn.)

Not only cut in line, he did not walk the circle, it was in and out. weak.

Kerry should have stayed away from this. The was an example of the blind elitism that infects Kerry's brain. It is demonstrating Kerry could never be "of the people" or "for the people" because he considers himself superior to the people.

"He had a guy with a little handheld camcorder keeping his sights on the 'good' Senator."

Nobody else got to bring in a camera. I'm not voting for Kerry.

I didn't get that feeling at all; Holt's the only one who said it so far.

He came in with a separate cameraman

I'm at work and not able to see the TV. My question was whether Kerry's cameraman's feed was being transmitted to the media and being seen on TV. If this is the case, then there's more to this than Kerry just showing up with a documentary cameraman. This means the media had to make arrangements to get this feed connected to their hookups etc or even that the media supplied the cameraman.

I just said on another thread that Clinton's display at the 9/11 Cathedral Memorial Service was the most boorish, disgusting behavior I have ever seen at a formal event.

All the dignitaries (and indeed other than Cheney everyone was there) proceeded down the steps and left. Only Clinton raced back up the steps into the camera's line again and stayed there through the end, pumping everyone's hand as though it was his front porch after a barbecue. I guess you remember. Makes you sick. I actually had to leave the room, it was so offensive.

Must even the media think this was achingly phony

Even if the KNOW it's achingly phony, they don't care: he's their guy for now (their mantra is ABB - Anybody But Bush). They are just loathsome as Kerry is.

No, Lester didn't say it was "cheesey"
but I thought he made the point extremely
obvious, that Kerry was there for a photo-op.
Didn't you, Howlin?

"Maybe Nancy should say something about this opportunist, in a sly, clever, nonpartisan way."

My gut says Nancy may say something, but I don't think she cares about being sly, clever or nonpartisan. I hope she speaks out and rips Kerry a new anus.

Elvis has nothing on Ronnie.

The numbers are going to be HUGH! for this. It is snowballing.

Reminds me of the Pauline Kael quote: "Nixon can't possibly have won. I don't know a single person who voted for him."

Yeah, I think Lester made it clear that Kerry
was there for a photo-op...
Maybe I am wrong.

My guess....Nancy and her family are NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS.

While I'm ticked as if everyone else, I doubt Nancy cares one way or the other who shows up to walk by. She has other things on her mind right now.

Nancy wouldn't do it -- not with her grief right now.

But SOMEBODY needs to speak up!

I nominate Barbara Bush. She's perfect for this.
