Controversy develops over Reagan funeral speakers...

CLINTON DISAPPOINTMENT: LEFT OFF FUNERAL SPEAKERS LIST
Former President Bill Clinton has privately expressed anger he has apparently been left off the speakers list of Friday's Reagan State Funeral, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
"President Clinton really held out all hope the funeral would be a nonpartisan event, like Nixon's was," a top Clinton source said on Tuesday morning. "He's angry and disappointed neither he nor President Carter have been asked to speak, as of yet."
The top source says Clinton has been critical that both Bush presidents will address the crowd gathered at National Cathedral.
Nixon's vice president Gerald Ford did not speak at Nixon's funeral.
Clinton's inner circle is convinced Nancy Reagan has personally shut out Clinton from any high-profile participation.
"It is a state funeral, using tax dollars," the top Clinton insider explained.
Former President George H.W. Bush, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney will join President Bush in eulogizing Ronald Reagan, Reagan's office announced. Presiding over the service will be former Sen. John Danforth of Missouri, who is an ordained Episcopal priest. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and the Rabbi Harold Kusher will give readings, while Irish tenor Ronan Tynan will sing.
The eulogy is being prepared by President Bush's chief speechwriter, Michael Gerson, who also wrote the president's moving speech for a memorial service in the same cathedral after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Developing...
I think Bush's answer will be to refer to Reagan's family.
Bush didn't plan the funeral, stupid journalists! I wish he would cut the journalists off at the knees.
I see him doing just that...like a perpetual nightmare. Hope they never figure out cryonics or cloning.
Tell Clinton he's not being singled out:
Neither Moammar Khaddafi and nor Fidel Castro were asked to speak either.
The lines of people to pay respect to Reagan may remind some of the nedless lines to get gas under Carter..
We missed you!
I'm thrilled that Margaret Thatcher is coming over to speak at RR's funeral!
If I knew about that, I totally forgot... What a completely SICK thing to do.Did it make front page news? (ha ha..I'm sure the answer will be no)
Kennedy funeral
In the Rotunda, the speakers were Mike Mansfield, Senate Majority Leader; Chief Justice Earl Warren; and Speaker of the House John McCormack.
At the funeral Mass, the main eulogist was Father Hannon of the Archdiocese of Washington, then a young JFK of the Church personally selected by Jacqueline Kennedy.
Oddly enough, LBJ was not invited to speak at any of these events; he did lay a wreath at the casket for the nation in the Rotunda.
Bobby Kennedy and Ted Kennedy were scheduled to speak at the gravesite but declined at the last moment.
That is wishful thinking.
I don't recall many speakers..remember a lot of the country was still in shock at the idea of "President " Johnson..
You must be thrilled that a "top clinton source" agrees with you.
I agree. I'm just happy to spread the word about Slick's appalling behavior. There's been an awful lot of it this week and we may all consider ourselves secretaries of sorts: to the cataloguing & preservation of what we're seeing. But to me that's what the whole Internet really is.
Let me add another point.
While President, Ronald Reagan always wore his suit coat when in the Oval Office, out of respect for the Presidency.
Clinton got oral sex in the same room.
Still think he should be allowed to speak?
Yeah really. (point noted that they're all in the same league)
see post 527
He'll shut up as soon as Hitlery chews him out.
Well, the way the dems are behaving he should have been left off.
Much of the nation was in shock at the idea of "President "Johnson..remember , he was from Texas, JFK was killed in Dallas..everyone expected it to be a "good-ole boy" conspiracy..the unstated view was that LBJ aranged it..
"For the dems, everything is politics."
That's it in a nutshell.
I believe there's also pictures of Clinton wearing shorts, sweatsuit, and folks possing with him for a picture, after they had gone running? I seem to remember Drudge having some of these pictures on his web-site just prior to the impeachment trial...
hahahahaahahaha .. choking ... Ahem I wonder why ..
" bout time "
