I was watching Nancy Reagan arrive at the funeral home. It does my heart good to see the look of suprise and happiness on her face as she looks at the items left by mourners.

Doug, make sure everyone is dressed appropriately. Jacket and tie for the guys. Reagan understood these things and would have expected it from us.

From July 1993 to April 1997 I lived in the Wood Ranch development across Madera Drive from the Reagan Library. I used to go there on occasion to look at that piece of the Berlin Wall.

I have a friend with property on the other side the Reagan Library. He is a professional shooter with a range on his property. I always like the fact that we could have target practice so close to the library of the greatest president in my lifetime.

A few minutes ago, I was able to speak with Diotima. Diotima and BobJ arrived at the Moorpark Community College parking lot in the motor home at 10:30 a.m.

The motor home has a refrigerator, a freezer and Doug from Upland said that he was on the way with ice.

Diotima said that the shuttle buses began leaving the parking lot approximately (now one hour) ago. It is all very organized, and running smoothly. There are at least 10,000 people there already, yet it appears that all is running smoothly.

Diotima said that there is a high level of security at the parking place. Handouts given out to all say that the following are not allowed:

Bags, cameras, packages, backpacks, briefcases, camera cases, laptops or cell phones.

There is no photography allowed inside the library. All electronic devices must be silent.

Small purses and diaper bags, if the situation is called for will be allowed. Both are subject to search.

If you bring gifts and/or remembrances for the Reagan family, there is a place in the parking lot where you may leave them.

BobJ has been taking a bunch of pictures.

Driving up 118 Fwy Diotima said that there were flags hanging over freeway.

Then I was able to speak with DougfromUpland:

Doug said that there is at least a 1/2 mile back up on the eastbound 118 Ronald Reagan Freeway at Collins.

Doug's advice: don't get off at Collins go to the next exit, or plan on getting off at the exit prior to Collins.

Doug says that once you exit the 118 Freeway on the exit west of/past Collins, Doug says follow the crowd: cut back towards Collins and traffic is moving smoothly.

Thanks, to all you guys and gals who are going - those of us here in the middle of the country wish we could go, too. How cool it would have been to have his body carried to Washington via train - then we all could have gone to the nearest point and saluted the greatest American president. I know this isn't feasible, but it would have been so wonderful.

Salute him for me, please. --E

Just spoke with Doug. He said that he is very close to the entrance to the parking lot. He said that it has been 45 minutes since he exited the eastbound 118 Ronald Reagan Freeway.

He has seen the shuttle buses pass as they head to the Reagan Library. He was just passing the ABC-TV news van as our call ended.

Doug said that if you're planning on going, it might be best to start out now. Again, Doug said that traffic on the Eastbound 118 Ronald Reagan Freeway ran smoothly until he approached the Collins off-ramp.

While he recommends exiting the following exit, the one West of Collins, he said that traffic moves very slowly once off the freeway.

Doug is wearing a jacket and tie.

He said that he hopes the ice he purchased will not have turned into a small pond by the time he parks.

Doug sang the song he wrote in tribute to President Reagan. It sounds great to me and I'm now off on a search to find it and print it out. Perhaps we can all join in chorus today.

Thank you for your good thoughts, Endeavor. I also wish you could be here or that there could have been a cross-country procession.
