Quotes: A Nation Reacts
Following are quotations on the news that former President Ronald Reagan has passed away.
Actor Danny Glover: 'We all know Ronald Reagan's legacy, from the Iran-Contra affair to the funding of the Nicaraguan military in which over 200,000 people died.
The groundwork for the move steadily to the right happened with the Reagan administration.
People want to elevate him to some mythic level, they have their own reason for doing that.'

I used to like that guy as an actor, but he is such a sniveling wacko I cannot bear to look at his face now.
could he be a smaller man?
Of all the people to get an opinion from...
So much for me paying to see him in 'Lethal Weapon 5,' even if Mel Gibson is in the movie.
Danny Glover, ......last I heard he was hanging out with the homeless in San Francisco.....I guess he is waiting on a call from Mel Gibson for another film..../sarcasm
Has anyone informed Danny "the stupid" that the people held an election -- monitored by the revered Jimmuh Carter ---- that threw OUT the communists!
(much to Jimmuh's disgust)
That little part of history, seems to be forgotten by these communist suck ups in Hollywood and elsewhere..
Semper Fi
He probably thought the call was a job offer from Mel Gibson!
next thing ya know, the press will be asking Ed Assner and Mike Far(out)ell what they think
Danny's too busy to pay attention to little detials like facts!
Glover was probably the only one stupid enough to open his mouth.
When are these morons going to move to France like they keep promising?
I'm still wondering why Jimmy Carter has yet to make any statement regarding Reagan's death. All of the other living Presidents (and Presidential-wanna-bes) have issued statements. I'm sure that if Carter died, Ford would not hesitate to show his respects, likewise would Bush if Clinton died. He couldn't still be bitter could he?
I wrote this on another thread earlier....
Dear Mel Gibson,
I hope you have been able to see and or read the comments from one of your co-stars in your "Lethal Weapon" series, made by Danny Glover.
His actions of late have made it almost physically and mentally impossible to watch and enjoy any of the "Lethal Weapon" series of which Danny Glover participates in.
I have an idea that might help in marketing any future release of a "Lethal Weapon" box set.
There is a scene in one of the LW series where you go to Glover's house, only to find him sitting on a booby-trapped toilet, that you help him escape from.
Just re-edit that scene.Instead of you helping Glover in that scene, LEAVE HIM ON THE TOILET until the scene's conclusion (where YOU ALONE are out in the yard looking back at the house)
Re-edit the rest of the series from there.
Thanks Mel !!
I used to love lethal weapon, now when I look at it I see him and think "NAZI". I taped an old Cary Grant movie over it.

They always mention Iran-Contra.
It's unfortunate that we had to lend a helping hand to the Contras covertly. If the congress hadn't been controlled by the soft-on-communism Democrats, funding the Contras would have been a formal, above-board part of American policy. The executive branch realized that it simply unacceptable for the marxist Sandinistas to establish a communist beach head on the American continent, but the legislative did not. So the executive was forced to go back-channel to get the job done. The root cause of Iran-Contra was the Democrat legislators and their ideological soft-spot for communists.
Also, didn't the pressure we put on the Sandinistas ultimately result in their ouster? It was years later (early 90's?), but the Sandinistas were finally purged in a free and fair democratic election. If we hadn't tinkered with things like we did down there, it's unlikely that there would have been this happy ending.
This is will be the gist of my retort to any lefty who cites Iran-Contra in order to smear President Reagan and his administration.
Knowledgable Freepers -- is there anything I should add or subtract from this? Will this hold water? Would you recommend any tweaks?
Just what is a "Danny Glover" anyway? Who is this nothing that would presume to have anything valid to say about a truly great man?</rhetoric>
Sounds like Danny Boy is more like the character he played in "The Color Purple." Maybe he wasn't acting, just being himself?
