(CBS) No reporter knew Ronald and Nancy Reagan like Mike Wallace did.
This Sunday, on 60 Minutes, Wallace looks back at his interview with the Reagans at their beloved ranch in California, and at his special interview with the former first lady done just a few years ago.
In it, Nancy Reagan talks about living with the president in his final years, watching her husband deal with Alzheimers disease.
She told Wallace she can tell immediately when disease has him in its grips: A different look in the eyes, she said. A whole different look. You know, it really... it's been said often, of course, and it's true, it really is the long, long goodbye.
The nation's 40th president will be remembered for a lot of things, but Correspondent Dan Rather looks at Mr. Reagan and his sense of humor. Even through his darkest days -- the assassination attempt by John Hinckley Jr. -- Ronald Reagan knew the value of a good line.
The hour-long program, devoted almost entirely to the life and death of the former president, begins at 7 p.m. ET/PT
If CBS thinks I'm going to watch THEIR version of a tribute, they're insane. They'll probably ask Barbra Streisand and James Brolin to recall how their "truthful portrayal" was boycotted. In the words of President George H.W. Bush a la Dana Carvey, "Uh uh. Ain't gonna do it."
They went from accusing him of being senile in office, to airing charges that he cashed in on his presidency by taking loans to purchase his ranch ("Even though he paid the loans back in full, many saw the taint of corruption"), to Iran-Contra, to estrangement from his children, to the fact that he was hated in Europe.
I wouldn't watch this "60 Minutes" garbage with a gun to my head. Mike Wallace is a vile creepy old dirtbag.
Who thinks that puke Mike Wallace can contribute anything to the eulogies to an extraordinary person like RONALD REAGAN.
REAGAN lifted the world!
I saw wallace interviewed this morning..(can't remember which station)..his version is that he was close friends/is close friends with the Reagans.. Maybe his definition of friends will be different than ours. I'd like to watch it just to see what happens...
With the loss of President Reagan, D day, and Smarty Jones, it's been a tough weekend.
....and those are his good points.
CBS's coverage yesterday was horrendous. I can't imagine Mike Wallace (who just recently used the D-Day events to trash President Bush and the Iraq war) being anything close to fair. I'll let others who have the stomach for it watch the show. I don't believe my blood pressure can handle it.
Reagan got rid of the Fairness Doctrine, which let people like Rush Limbaugh become millionaires by spreading RW hatred and propaganda throughout the land.
Anybody remember that?
Anybody going to mention that on television?

Open the gates of Hell, boys, Saint Ronnie's comin' in!
It is with no small degree of utter glee that I celebrate the untimely death of Ronald Wilson Reagan, bad actor and worse president.
Untimely only in that if John Hinckley would have taken some shooting lessons before he tried to impress Jodie Foster, I wouldn't be writing this and you wouldn't be reading it.

DING DONG THE WICKED WITCH IS DEAD
During this A* holes reign:
1) My wife was laid off due to health reasons.
2) She was denied Social Security Benefits even though Legislation required Diabetics in her condition receive SS benefits.
3) On the same day that we received notice that her SS benefits had been declined; we found our that her sister-in law had died leaving 4 children orphaned.
4) I was laid off.
5) Ray-Gun's policy required an appeal to a Hearings Examiner in order to receive SS benefits (SS reimbursed only $500 of those costs (hire a lawyer for that))
6) Following My Wife's death I was involved in litigation with MR. THOMAS STEWART OF VASHON ISLAND. A Republican scumbag who charged contributions to various republican candidates to contracts with the US Government (e.g. your tax dollars paid for his political contributions).
Do I feel sorry the wicked witch is dead?????
I don't think so.

F***ing Reagan INVENTED Saddam
Saddam wouldn't have been shit without Reagan, so every body in Saddam's count of dead should also be counted in Asshole Reagan's, too!
-----------------
Poll question: Was Reagan any better than Saddam?
No one would demand that we respect Saddam's death.
Poll result (29 votes)
yes (14 votes, 48%) Vote
no (15 votes, 52%) Vote

Terrorist Raygun dies; every Nazi from his regime is on cable news...
spewing Reichwing lies. Whackjob Ronald Raygun's old cabinet members have been dredged up from the sewers to dominate the air-waves,
Iran-Contra terrorist and savings and loan scandal architect Ronald Raygun dies. We are stuck with the Neo-Con Nazis from Raygun's murderous regime who are responsible for the illegal and immoral invasion of Iraq.

Not planning to watch the broadcast, nor do I have a high opinion of Mike Wallace, but for the record, Wallace has known Nancy since the early 1940's, years before she met Ronald Reagan. Wallace worked at a radio station in Chicago where Nancy's mother also was working at the time, and got to know the family.
Wallace must be thrilled that he can change the subject from his horrible comments at the Smithsonian this week.
I'm glad I didn't watch the coverage yesterday...I definitely don't need to get sick again..(I've been fighting a migraine this entire week)
Watching it tonight is definitely not a top priority for me..that's for sure. Who he works for is obviously a great indicator of where his priorities are.
Pray for W and Nancy
What positive contributions to our lives has Mike Wallace made in comparison to those of Ronald Wilson Reagan? That is how I judge the importance of what anyone has to say.
Turn on CBS and watch that old coprolite Mike Wallace trash the memory of a great American? That will be the day.

Here is a man who has been stewing in hate for what, 20 years now??? Who, in the last 20 years has evidently never bothered to realize that maybe, just maybe, HE was responsible for his problems. Not Reagan. And after reading his vile post, I believe I may know who caused his pain and suffering. POS, all of them.
2) She was denied Social Security Benefits even though Legislation required Diabetics in her condition receive SS benefits.
Whoa there. I have to set the record straight. IIRC, Ronald Reagan was way too busy giving everybody AIDS in the 80's, I don't recall him spreading diabetes around, can anyone help me out on this?
