Cheerleaders don't win elections talking about the emperor's new clothes. I'm not talking about crass opportunism(see Kerry's statement), but rather professionally rising to the occasion. Leadership demands going the extra mile at times. We have nearly every side of the media aligned against us, clear-headed honesty and truth is required, along with our best judgement and efforts, which sometimes is painful.
You sound like somebody from DU, for God's sake. President Bush was already in bed - it's way after 1 am in Paris and he has to be back on the road between 4 and 5 am. Second, I was very moved by his tribute to President Reagan. I don't know what the hell you were watching.

Read my posting history, you'll be hard pressed to find a stronger supporter of President Bush. My critique is not based in bashing or tearing down, but realistic assessment. What matters is the general public's opinion, and unfortunately some people in the middle, some of those who's votes we need to keep the Dems out of office, will look at that speech and think, "He sure isn't Ronald Reagan." Which of course is far, far from the truth, but perception can become reality.

You've read many of my posts, how often do I criticize President Bush? But perceptions matter.
Time will tell how people react, and again, I hope my analysis is way off. His speech at the funeral is ultimately probably more important.
