There is a special place in hell for those people.
I do not think it appropriate to make that comment on this thread. There will be other times and other threads to express your amateurish psychological theories. Their undying love for each other was wonderful and real,especially compared to 42 and the shrew. It was also what made Kitty Kelly's BS story about Nancy and Frank Sinatra look totally false,and made up. Tonight we are here to express our sorrow,grief,relief,and love for "The Gipper" in his passing. Nancy took wonderful care of him,and his admirers are very thankful for her. He will always be in our hearts and minds,and he will always be my favorite President. My heart is broken now,but he was optimistic,and I will be too, "For the Gipper".
My internet connection at home is messed up at the moment. So after watching coverage of the former President's passing, I came into my office just to post a few thoughts and connect with some of the Freepers, like you, who I most respect. Means a lot to share tears and thoughts at this time with the people who most understand.

I turned on the TV a minute ago and none of the networks is carrying anything about the funeral (I don't have cable). I guess it was too much to ask of them to show it.
I can't put what I feel for this man into words. Anybody that was in the military during Carter and Reagan probably knows what I'm talking about.
One of my favorite quotes from him - which is fading with time - was from around 1984. The Senate couldn't ratify a budget for the military and the talk around Washington near the end of September was that the military may have to bear the brunt of this partisan bickering - and not get paid.
Asked by a reporter if the military would get paid, President Reagan responded, "Of course they are. Would you not want to pay two million armed employees?"

Reagan was the first president I can remember (I was born Nov '76) so his passing has really hit hard. There's never going to be a president quite like him again.
I was taught from an early age not to speak ill of the dead. I'll revise that; I don't remember being told "Don't speak ill of the dead" -- it was just a given. So that type of mindset is foreign to me; especially trolls posting disgusting pictures while saying "this is what Reagan meant to me."
The thing I so loved about President Reagan was that he was Presidential. He exuded confidence. Even those that didn't agree with his politics felt inspired, patriotic and safe; hence his winning 49 states in 1984. I only learned today that he lost that 50th state(Minnesota) by 2500 votes. Wow! He restored a perceived weak nation back to a feared super-power in short time. I think GW went to school on Reagan and it shows. Rushmore is a lock in my opinion. I'm glad the family's suffering is over. I sure would love to have had a coherent Reagan to offer his wisdom and one-liners these last 10 years. I'm sorry, but I can't be sad at his passing. He lived a long(where do I sign?), supremely successful life. His ascention to Heaven is a blessing for himself and his family. He's done his part. The baton of freedom has been passed to capable hands. Heaven must be abuzz tonite. (my allergies must be acting up....sniff)

Well , all I can say is that I grew up in a very conservative family in Georgia . Mom & Pop taught us well .
The pernicious "Fairness Doctrine" would still be with us had President Reagan not broken the stranglehold the FCC previously enjoyed over all programming content.
Let's hope that the lessons learned during his presidency are not completely ignored by his successors in office.
I live in Los Angeles. The local channels are reporting that, although the details have not been released yet, the basic plan goes something like this: President Reagan's body has been taken to a Santa Monica funeral home where it will be prepared for burial. It will then be brought to the Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, where it will lie in repose for a day. The public will be invited to view the casket. Then it will be flow to Washington to lie in state in the Capitol rotunda. Then back to California for burial next week. Hope this helps a little.
And he was supposed to stop off in MN to make one last appearance before going back to the ranch on election day. He didn't for some reason. But if he had it would have been a clean sweep 50-0. Amazing!
Ollie North is reminiscing now...telling how President Reagan called him "My Marine"...brought more tears to my eyes. Juxtaposed is video of Reagan signing something, smiling and laughing.
Looking at all the people lined up outside the funeral home makes me think of what kind of HUGE welcome Ronald W. Reagan is getting in heaven!
I feel so sad. Reagan was such an important figure in my life, even though I was just 11 years old when he was elected. He influenced my political growth in so many ways. I'm really going to miss him. I don't think we'll see anyone quite like him ever again.
