Correction: Mike Wallace, not Chris Wallace.
Prayers up!
God bless and thank this fine man for all he has done for us. May he finally find peace at the end of this long and painful good-bye.
Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found
Was blind, but now I see.
'Twas Grace that taught my heart to fear,
And Grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils, and snares
I have already come.
'Tis Grace hath brought me safe thus far
And Grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me.
His Word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.
When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we'd first begun.
God Bless Ronald Reagan. May the Angels of Heaven sing you to sleep.
I've been expecting this for years. But, I still hate it. I know it's probably time. The family has been through much with this. Still, the man has been such a large part of history for me. Hearing this is not easy at all.
President Reagan and Nancy are two of the best reasons why I love the USA. I'll cry when this precious man passes on. :(
I welcome his passing its time hes off to a better place nancy been though enough god bless ronny and his family
could someone go tell Joanne Drake, she says nothing is happening.
Goodbye, Mr Reagan.... *stifles sobs*
As sad as it is, can you imagine the press right now, cueing their obits? They JUST got done with all the silly Memorial Day WWII Memorial dedication coverage, the speeches, the patriotism et al, THEN they have to cover the D Day commemoration, and JUST when they have that "old folks' stuff" pretty much over with so they can go back to their Bush-bashing....
THEN REAGAN HAS TO GO AND DIE! So NOW we have spend ANOTHER week on the memorials, the speeches, the Cold War, the biography, more speeches, more pundits, and people will inevitably be reminded what he stood for, and what he accomplished, and how he protected America. Some may actually be roused enough from their stupor to even consider voting Republican!
"Ten years with Alzheimers, and WHY does he HAVE to die in an ELECTION YEAR??????"
They'll be cursing under their breath as they cover the events.
Leave it to Reagan, even at the threshold of death, HE'S STICKING IT TO THE LEFT!!!!
I've talked many times with my wife about Reagan's illness and how he's managed to live all these years with essentially no life at all. She's said to me that it's tragic that he doesn't recognize family members or friends, doesn't know who he is.
And surely it is tragic.
But I believe simply by being alive and being in the news every February when his birthday rolls around and sporadically at other times - I believe Ronald Reagan is continuing to serve his country and the cause he believed in.
It seems that every year when the History Channel and news outlets talk about him and his life there are people who grew up while Reagan was president who, for the first time, realize what a tremendous contribution he made, how right he was on the issues. I think the movement that began with Reagan (or Goldwater) - let's call it the Reagan Revolution - is continuing to move forward, propelled in part each February simply by Reagan's still being alive.
Even in illness he has continued in the service of this nation.
I just wish he knew how much he means to so many of us.
God bless Ronald Reagan.
Prediction: Brokaw, Rather, Jennings, and the network hacks will mercilessly slaughter Reagan in their obituary pieces.
Don't forget, Ronald Reagan WON THE COLD WAR.
When he was elected, Iran was still holding the hostages, and the US was facing the potential of a nuclear threat from the Soviets.
He's probably owed more credit than anyone on the planet for what he accomplished, and the security we enjoy today.
May he go peacefully...
God bless you Ronald and Nancy, and comfort you in your time of need. You two did more for this country than we will ever know, and you arrived at a perfect time in history.
I remember the huge number of people on FR who sighed a collective relief on January 20, 2001 that slick willie would not be president to preside over President Reagan's funeral.
Fox News just reported that our Gipper's health has deteriorated as a result of pneumonia.
God Bless him.......
We should all be humbly grateful for what we have received from this great man and from the God who gave him to us.
He apparently has pneumonia. Under these conditions if it does not turn around within 24 hours after onset, death usually comes within a week, maybe a bit longer, based on what I have seen. Devastating...
There comes a time for each of us to die.
President Reagan lived a full and wonderful life, much of it in service to us and the rest of the world.
May God Bless him and his family and might they know how much he meant to all of us.
