RICHMOND, Va. -- A special education student who is a registered sex offender was charged with committing sodomy during a class, according to police.
Police said Edward Lee Hopkins, 18, and a 16-year-old male classmate are accused of having sex in a classroom at George Wythe High School Wednesday morning.
The 16-year-old, whose name was not released, was also charged Friday with consensual sodomy.
Both students were part of a special-education class comprised of 11 students.
Hopkins was convicted of sodomizing a 12-year-old boy in February and was sentenced to 21 years in prison, with all 21 years suspended. He was put on probation for four years, four months and 14 days and ordered to undergo treatment.
He also was ordered to register as a sex offender, which he did last month.
The school system was not aware of Hopkins' previous charge or that he was a registered sex offender, School Board member Stephen Johnson said.
Ten points to the first freeper who confuses Gallic amour with Hellenistic male bonding.
I have no idea what either of those terms mean. What do I win?
It means stay out of Sparta.
Gay sex is accepted as mainstream now so why the archaic language?
In fact, classroom sex should be celebrated as a soul clensing act; a breaking free from the limpid tentacles of our high strung Victorian culture.
Okay, like, I'm confused.. 11 students, and they can't keep track of them? Somewhere I thinks this was done EARLY Wednesday morning before school? Otherwise why isn't the school system being held accountable?
Extra credit?
Um, for those of us who actually learned about this stuff in Constitutional law, sodomy isn't gay sex...
It wasn't sodomy. They were just consumating their homosexual marriage.
Alrighty then.....just consider me anally challanged.
But...(no pun intended)...most so-called gay sex (the kind practiced by the male homosexuals who have lead the way) is sodomy and that is why they spread the aids virus so prolifically.
In this culture of sexual permisiveness with gay sex being shoved in our faces as an alternative to sex within marriage, I can see how the previous poster could mistake the letter of the law for the trend.
Now isn't that special?
LOL
If it's OK for Clinton, why not these two?
What???
"The school system was not aware of Hopkins' previous charge or that he was a registered sex offender, School Board member Stephen Johnson said."
Covering their butts. I find it hard to believe that someone that was convicted of a felony, has a 21-year sentence suspended and is therefore on parole would not be on the radar screen.
I know, I know, it's a public school but to be classified special ed would seem to assure that this kid has had plenty of exposure to the juvenile punishment system and/or public social assistance system to ensure that bells would go off after such a serious charge and conviction.
Sodomy is not just what most people think it is...
Legally speaking, sodomy often means any form of non-vaginal sexual contact, altough the term is most commonly used to refer to anal sex.
" Sodomy is not just what most people think it is..."
Why don't you enlighten us?
