"McCain is too mentally unstable to be director of the CIA. Everyone who knows him has admittedly this off the record. Anyone who has seen hiff off camera would see it immediately."
I agree. He spoke at a GOP event here a few years ago, and when a radio reporter asked a question he didn't like, he went nuts.

Britt Hume is saying that the Sep 11 commission has been eager to point fingers and CIA was a very likely target.

Hmmmm, I was just thinking, GSC....
What if this gives Bush an opening to send Dick Cheney to CIA? Cheney knows where the bodies are buried and he's a bastard when he has to be. Rudy doesn't want CIA, he wants the Senate, then the WH. You know who gets Cheney's job, don't you?
And putting Dick Cheney in front of the Senate wouldn't be a bad thing at all. Cheney speaks with authority and knows how to handle the egos in the Senate.
Or, Cheney's retirement could be coming soon, as well.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

ignoring the media may be fine for us on a personal level. but ignoring their ability to install Kerry as president - that's just putting your head in the sand.

Anytime a 'Toon appointee leaves the administration, it is good news.
You're wrong again... But you're used to it, I know.

I'm not sure about the Kerry job, but 10 bucks says he'll have a CBS Book of the Month Club book out in a rush BEFORE the election.

Have people already forgetten how Tenet did his best to stick it to Bush during the whole 'yellowcake' scandalette?I cannot forget what never happened. I happen to be very well versed in that story and your representation is not accurate, IMO.

personal reasons...Bottom line is Tenet is out and Rumsfeld is still in.
That tells us everything.
Not to worry.

Much as I adore Rudy, I don't believe he will be CIA director, or wants to be. He can do the party far more good in the Senate or as Governor.
James Woolsey would be a good choice, but I doubt there is any interest in a re-tread. My guess is we'll hear the president choose someone unknown.

Problem being Rudy will need 6-8 months before the election for fundraising and campaining.
Besides, I don't think the FBI is gonna give the DCI any of their files.

Novak, no friend to Republicans or the White House, has claimed repeatedly that no one in the White House leaked the CIA name to him.
Which part of that don't people understand?

You dont think Tenet was the Drunk that told Chabili about the US had broken Irans code? .... Who else so high would know that ?
To: oceanview
I'm as pessimistic as the next guy, but it all depends on who replaces Tenet. If it's Rudy or McCain or someone like that, it's a goldmine of good PR.

Thanks, Ox. I have a call in to my best friend who's worked for CIA for the past 18 years. I'd like to hear her take on this, whether or not she's heard any internal rumblings. They're a pretty tight lipped group in general, so I may not get anything, best friend or not.
I dated a Branch Chief briefly when I was stationed in Virginia... we literally ran out of things to talk about. (Hi, honey, how was your day? Sorry, can't tell you.)
