Why is Alec Baldwin doing intro's on History Channel's D-day programming?

Posted on 06/01/2004 8:01:56 PM PDT by karbine

Has anyone else had a hard time watching the excellent line-up of Memorial Day/D-Day programming on History channel with Alec Baldwin as host/emcee? I was astounded by the gross insensitivity of History Channel having a hard-core leftist with the reputation of alec ("Stone Henry Hyde and his family to death") baldwin introducing segments and doing some narrating. What are they thinking? Everytime I see or hear him I lunge for the remote control. I watch History Channel more then anything else on tv, but they must have some sick pinko's in production who are able to slip through some disreputable material and characters sometimes. Several years ago, on Veterans Day, they ran a program about Hiroshima and Nagasaki that seemed to have been done in Europe. It's premise was that the US only used the A-bombs because they were new toys and we just wanted to play with them and we were all a bunch of racists who didn't care about incinerating a few hundred thousand Japs. Who in the hell would pick a day like Veterans Day to air a program like that? They insinuated that the war was already over and there was absolutely no military reason for the use of the A-bombs. I doubt if I'd be writing this now if America hadn't dropped those bombs. My dad was on a ship heading across the Pacific then and God alone knows what might have happened if the invasion had had to go ahead as I think it would've. We should all let History Channel know how we feel about the in-your-face insult of having someone like baldwin hosting and narrating programs honoring our real heroes. God Bless America, God Bless our valiant servicemen and women-active and retired, and God Bless our President and his re-election.

"You are correct. Besides, he has a decent voice. Also, I read sometime back that he vowed to keep his mouth shut from now on. He was too over the top and he said he learned his lesson. Man's gotta eat."

Yeah - and the publicity over how he abused Kim Basinger before she divorced him didn't help him either....

It is quite often that the History Channel will show its liberal roots.

I love history and the sight of Baldwin as spokesman turned my stomach and had me switching channels quickly.

I should own stock in the History Channel I watch it so much and I am having a hard time getting past Baldwin tonight. That special on the D-Day Massacre was pretty informative though.

I think everyone stopped buying Thomas the Tank Engine (Socialist Indoctrination) when they started using the Perky Alec Baldwin. He is nauseating to listen to and who wants their sons to talk or act like that.

He isn't exactly getting alot of scripts...and he has to keep his face up in the public eye...hoping for a comeback sooner or later. He probably did the deal for less than $5k.

Maybe Alec thinks he is a history expert because his dad was a social studies teacher at Massapequa High School.

I suspect that once all our heroes from WWII pass on, the truth will die and we will be in for a major deconstruction of that war too. Somehow we'll be found at fault and the Germans and Japanese made out to be victims of American and British imperialism.

**Hey! He played Jimmy Doolittle in Pearl Harbor. That makes him an expert on WWII and a prime spokesman. ***

$#%&#! You beat me to it!

So what is he still doing in the US? Maybe waiting for sKerry to make him an Ambassidor to France!

Whoever made that decision needs to be fired. This is a man that removes credibility from everything he is involved with.

You're not kidding! I watched History Channel's "Color of War" series and it made me sick. If you didn't know better, you'd think the bad guys won...

Baldwin played Doolittle in the movie Pearl Harbor. Probably when the DDay film was made, they chose him because of this.

He is getting fat, and has been accused of beating his ex wife Kim Bassinger, so is probably going to start doing narrations for money.

Since he only reads other people's words, I have no problem with this. Martin Sheen does it all the time, or at least used to do it before he became a hit in "the West Wing"...
