it was nothing, some rain and lightning.
maybe 35 mph winds here
Valerie, that is beautiful! You keep getting better and better.
We had some straight line winds that were measured around 70 mph in the mid-cities (where I live). Things were much worse south of us.
Hey, thanks for the heads up !Yeah, everything's just fine here in NE Dallas County. I had NO IDEA about this until this morning. I got up a little after 4 and noticed when I went to make the coffee that the clock was flashing, so I knew we'd had a power outage overnight. That's not unusual for our neighborhood, for some reason.
Then, on the way to Bally's this morning I heard on KRLD that there was a storm last night and had knocked power out in 500,000 homes and businesses in Dallas, and that some were STILL out. They said it was the worst outage in ten years I think.
I don't know yet if I just slept through a bad storm or we were just missed or on the edge of it or what ! LOL !
I think we just didn't get much big rain or winds, or I would have woken up and heard it. Guess I better go out now and check the house !
I had just shut my computer off last night when you pinged me. Playing catchup now.
Thanks for the heads up here !! :^D
Simcha and Termite first thing I thought about was "Logan!"
Take cover lil guy. Hope those twisters aren't near you sweetie.
Thanks for the updates! My parents kept in touch via cell phone and they weathered the major part of the storm in a utility room at the campground. She said everyone else in the campground stayed in their campers...but I guess being from Oklahoma makes us a bit more cautious?? Ha ha!
Man ! I guess I missed it all !! haha !See my post #86.
I checked around the house and no problems I could see .....
Glad to hear you're no worse for wear.
So then, Simcha....YOU were the one praying us safely out of there, huh? THANKS! We were THE last plane to leave DFW last night. It was ONE BUMPY RIDE for awhile....but we're here!! (CA)
I overheard the pilot, as we were deplaning in OC say to the stewardess that if they knew how close we were to not taking off...
Thank you. My friend just wrote that they came through the storm yesterday. Scary though. I hope today won't be another repeat.
Thanks. My sister-in-law came by here on her way to her work. She lives 3 miles from my place. She said she got rain and winds there and my wife told me we did too. I can't believe I slept through this thing, LOL ! :^D
Did ya'll fare well in the overnight storm ?
WBAP radio is saying maybe more severe weather tonight, too, btw .....
I live in South Texas. (Deep South Texas. We raise great cactus here.) About 40 miles from Laredo out in the ranch country. We aren't having any storms. We have had unusual heat for this time of year though. It has been up to 109 (Local weather station said 106. That's not what my thermometer read though). Usually it doesn't get up past the 100 degree mark until July and August. Just starting summer a bit early this year, I guess. LOL
Turns out this storm caused the largest weather-related power outage in North Texas history, 10% were without electricity at one point. May be several days before all is restored, and my local grocery store was still throwing out all their refrigerated stock this afternoon.
109!?!? Whoa ! Yeah, that's WAY early high temps even for far South Texas. Wow.We have had what I think has been fairly moderate temps for this time of year. The last few days we have had low 90's. I think we hit 94 Monday or thereabouts. But for the most part we were in the 80's.
Of course, we're into June now, so Texas Summer is a fixin' to set in REAL soon now, I'm sure. I've lived here WAY too long to thing it's gonna be like this for much longer, lol !
WBAP-AM 820 here in Arlington just popped the EBS alert. Looks like another storm armada is building out around Springtown, but so far its just thunder, lightning, rain, and a little hail. The storm cell should hit the western areas of Fort Worth around 2230 (10:30 p.m.) according to the EBS.
The damage to our neighborhood from last nights storm was surprisingly heavy I saw a large oak tree that had been ripped out by its roots in a front yard not a half-mile from my door, and power is still out at my mom-in-laws place about a mile away. (Our power has remained on, but we only just got internet service back a few hours ago here at Chez B-Chan.) That twister didnt miss us by much...
Wow. That was some storm, huh ?I slept through the high winds and heavy rain Tuesday night.
Hmm? I might have done the same thing last night ? Did I miss another big blow ?
