BRUSHFIRE ALERT: "Screw Pizza Hut"

******************** "Screw Pizza Hut" June 1, 2004

“Ronald B. Honeycutt, 38, who has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, says he's been delivering pizzas for 20 years and has always packed heat on the job,” reports WorldNetDaily.com (http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=38726) today. At around 11 p.m. on May 17th, just after he had made a delivery in a high-crime neighborhood in Indianapolis, a dirtball confronted Honeycutt with a loaded 9 mm handgun. At that point, Honeycutt pulled out his own 9 mm from the back of his pants and fired 15 times, hitting the would-be robber at least 10 times, killing him.

Sounds like pretty good gun “control” to us. And dare we say, an awfully effective “deterrent.”

Anyway, Honeycutt went back to his Pizza Hut store and called the cops. The cops have since determined that Honeycutt acted in self-defense and will not face criminal charges. Nevertheless…

Pizza Hut fired him.

For violating a company policy against carrying firearms.

BRUSHFIRE ALERT: Now, let’s be honest here. Pizza Hut, as a private business, has the right to make such a rule and enforce it.

On the other hand, WE have the right to voice our objections to such a stupid rule and refuse to do business with them unless and until they change it.

And if you’d like to voice YOUR opinion about how Mr. Honeycutt was treated, you can call the Pizza Hut corporate office at 1-972-7700 or give them a “pizza” your mind by emailing them through their website at http://www.pizzahut.com/contact/feedback_other.asp

You can also quickly and easily locate the Pizza Hut franchise store near you - along with their phone number - by going to: http://www.pizzahut.com/locator/.

I just called the store in my neighborhood and spoke with the manager. I explained that my family would no longer be dining in her restaurant and why. The woman’s response was, “You should call the corporate office. That incident in Indiana has nothing to do with us.” To which I responded, “Well, it does now. ‘Cause you just lost a customer over it. Maybe YOU should call the corporate office.”

Something tells me she will...

haha you too huh? When I moved out of NYC some 10 years ago, I had a pizza in California and was like "What the heck is THIS MESS?" Gosh I miss those slices I used to get on 8th street in that pizzeria there. One slice was enough to fill you up for a week lol

You're not talking about that place on 8th and Broadway, are you? Eccch.

Today, a magazine is that box loaded with cartridges.
The clip basically is a cartridge clip for an M-1 Garand.
That's the simple version because my movie and dinner is on in a couple of minutes.

I have eaten Pizza Hut's version of pizza exactly 3 times in my life.........once in Sarasota, FL, once in Dover, DE, and once in Oak Hall, VA. The last because my daughter earned a gift certificate for a free pizza for her reading at school and there was no saying no to her.......

Making our daughter happy overrode both my husband's and my aversion to the place. We have since been able to convince her that other places have better food!!!!

I never ate pizza in the City - only in Brooklyn.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I understood a clip to be internal, a magazine to be external...

A magazine is the removable 'box' that is used to reload a pistol or some rifles. An empty magazine is removed and a full one popped in to replace it.

A clip is a metal strip that holds ammo that is 'stripped' off of the clip into an internal magazine. The military M-1 is typical of this style. The media commonly confuse the two. (but then they think an AR-15 is a machine gun also.)

On the other hand, they should not have a delivery area that includes known dangerous areas.

Lawd, girl! Where have you been? If they were to try to cut routes to "dangerous areas", they would be sued for racial discrimination!

I did not say that was a viable alternative or that it would ever happen- I just said should. And I stand by that statement- they shouldn't have to go to those areas. :)

I am outraged by your firing of Ronald Honeycutt, a Pizza Hut delivery guy from Indianapolis.

Mr. Honeycutt was a licensed firearms owner and was exercising his 2nd Amendment rights. In addition, he was, by fending off an armed attacker while in your company's employment defending his person against violence.

His firing is an outrage. I wanted to let you know this and also that I am joining with thousands of others throughout my community and the nation in a boycott of your enterprise.

In fact, I will never buy your products again.

What? And get sued for discrimination? I've heard of cases like this before. Local pizza delivery refuses to deliver in the most dangerous part of town, and gets sued for discriminating because it's a mostly black neighborhood. They can't win for losing. I say give the guy his job back, and maybe the losers will think twice before messing with a pizza hut delivery guy anymore.

"Pizza Hut fired him. "

It's better to be fired, than dead.

I suppose from a liability standpoint, Pizza Hut has some ground for the prohibition of guns on the job; and, the family of the dead perp will probably sue Pizza Hut over this, and win.

But, Honeycutt is still alive, and vindicated from wrongdoing...so let the courts and the liability insurance company work it out.

Has anyone thought to call THEIR favorite pizza joint to see what their corporate policy is before ordering ?

I agree this was wrong but I am guessing they are not the only one with this policy.

My favorite, and you can order frozen over the internet, is Uno's Chicago style Pizza, and Duo's. Started by some guy in Chicago, most of the pizzerias have slow, uncool service.
But not even the time you spend in line, or the slow service can mess up a piping hot, and extremely unique Uno's Chicago Style Pizza! Finger licking, lip smacking good sauce, chewy cheese, and plump veges, and tasty meats! Not to mention the awesome deep dish, pastry pie style crust that bakes to an incredibly buttery finish!

No I'm not a sales agent, I just love Unos!

Okay guys, we all now know what the difference is between a clip of bullets, and a loadable magazine!
Does anyone doubt what they see here to be the absolute truth?

If so, post privately. Please avoid arguing over a matter of misunderstanding when it comes to gun parts. As long as you both now how to safely take apart, clean and load your firearms. That should be enough to show you credibility!

;o)
