Air America talk network fights collapse: (he-he-he-he)

THE NEW YORK TIMES carried by the Arizona Daily Star
Even by the chaotic standards of a new media company, Air America Radio's first two months of broadcasting have been convulsive.
The fledgling talk-radio network has replaced several top executives and been taken off the air in two of its top three markets because of a contract. By late April, current and former executives said last week, the company was perilously close to running out of money. It has since received an infusion of cash, though it has not disclosed from whom.
The turmoil at Air America has undercut its efforts to establish a permanent liberal counterpart to Rush Limbaugh and his radio cohorts on the right.
In a sign that the company's financial woes have not fully abated, Al Franken, the network's best-known star, said in an interview last week that he had temporarily agreed not to draw a salary, making him "an involuntary investor."

Poor Al. He won't have as much money to spend on his boyfriend.
Isn't capitalism wonderful? The free market has spoken. No one wants to hear what Franken, Garofalo, and the other liberal morons have to say.

This speaks more to where the mind of America is at, more loudly than any skewed CBS or NY Slimes poll could ever fantasize about.

with NPR already providing a nationwide liberal network, there just wasn't enough audience left over for little Al.

Hey, Al. You're not good enough, you're not smart enough, and, doggonit, nobody likes you!
To: SandRat
So what's the problem. Liberals are always talking about how people should work for free. Now they get to put that philosophy into practice and prove that it works --- not!.
To: Petronski
Hmmm, I wonder if Katie Couric is going to have this as lead story on Today?

Air America is much like the social programmes that Liberals love: no one asked for them, they survive via cash from non-market sources, and when exposed to the market they fall flat on their faces. If NPR had to look for real sponsors and compete in the marketplace, the same fate would befall that subsidised, tedious hippie love-fest.

Nobody in USA wants to HEAR that Socialist dreck.
NPR's had to be subsidized for decades. Subsidy, read: loss-ridden business.
Get LOST Socialists - go to Cuba, or take an economics course!

One thing Air America did not realize, is that we can joke about them for years.
