DETAILS OF JUNE 2 DEMONSTRATION
Our central message, "Protect America and the World from Bush" is meant to encompass a broad range of concerns about the Bush administration, from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to the administration's policies on healthcare, the environment, church/state, education, economy, civil rights, civil liberties, etc.
Our plan is to gather at the South Gate of the Air Force Academy from 8:30 until 11:00 AM. From I-25, take exit 150B (US Air Force Academy South Entrance) and turn west, approx. 0.5 mile. Our authorized demonstration area will be on the right side as you drive along South Gate Boulevard (which is immediately past the overpass).
As you approach the South Gate entrance, there is a paved road where you need to make a right turn in order to park your vehicle on a grassy area. There is a small building and a sign that reads "Pass and Registration" indicating a right turn. This is NOT our authorized parking area.
Please park along the opposite side of the street along the open field (which can accommodate 200-300 cars), making sure to avoid a brown patch of land which has been re-seeded. Parking and demonstration areas will be cordoned off with a yellow tape and are easily accessible to all. Peacekeepers will be readily available to help guide traffic. I'm in DC area, but was hoping that some FReepers would have the time and ability to support the troops including the USAFA graduates and President Bush by peacefully opposing the friends of Saddam gathering this Wednesday, June 2.
Am I right in recalling that you are in Colorado? No state or locale is listed for you.
Would you be so kind as to ping any other Colorado FReepers who don't list locales for themselves? I pinged all from a list of FReepers who designated Colorado as their locale about 6 to 8 months back. Therefore, some newer Colorado FReepers may not receive my ping.
At any rate, here's a great FReeping opportunity, albeit at a bad time.
Several months back PresBush showed up at Fort Carson and there was a small group of protestors. They amounted to nothing. This time, it will be no different. Nothing to get worried about.
It would seem that President Bush tops their enemies list. Rush Limbaugh also seems to be there (and you have probably made that list judging by how much international attention was given to your post).
Arrest them and send them to Khobar towers...

The security measures for the President's visit to Colorado Springs and the AFA, will be highly intense. There will be no opportunity to get anywhere near his motorcade. The Springs is a conservative bastion and home to a strong GOP contingent. The graduation and Bush`s speech will be broadcast. The best seat for this event, will be in front of your TV set.
Because their security is so good the Secret Service didn't seem to mind driving the man past 100 useful idiots here in Nashville a few days ago. The only problem for Free Republic members wishing to counter the rabble would probably be convenient parking.
We have some responsibility to insure that the closet Communists don't get all the press, especially when that press has an interest in harming the morale of our folks overseas. Freep them good and make them cry, Coloradans!
I'm sure that you are right about all that, but peacefully protesting the leftists tends to throw them off their game and also diminishes or partially balances any publicity that they get. Many of the press will give at least some mention to counter-protestors who support Bush. The left doesn't get a free ride.

Even as Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld made a surprise visit to our troops in Iraq on Thursday, May 13, 2004, FReepers of DC Chapter conducted a surprise FReep of various leftists purporting to re-enact "torture" of Iraqi prisoners outside Rumsfeld's DC home. The stealth FReep by DC Chapter's special ops unit achieved total strategic and tactical surprise, leaving leftists looking like deer in the headlights on several occasions.
Any military academy graudation is an enormous undertaking and the yearly AFA graduation is no different. With the President making an appearence, it will compound the entire day of events on the northend of the Colorado Springs. A few protesters mean nothing. The real news will be made inside Falcon Satdium. I look forward to hearing the President's remarks. He will be among a sea of supporters.
Nothing to worry about. These are well-known leftists in the Springs area and are small in number. They are the areas token Democrats. No need to compound the traffic hell that hits N Academy on AFA grad day.
Best thing to do is to find a parking lot and watch all of the aircraft overhead. Everyone who sees these guys will shake it off. The Springs is rock solid conservative.

I believe the current crop of protesters are the same idiots from the 60's who were protesting to protest. The USA could be come out with a program which would guarantee to feed the world organically and vegitarian and these "useful idiots" would protest the color of the peas.

I don't worry about the leftists. I counter them. It throws them off their message, puts them on the defensive, and prevents them from getting a free ride in the media.

I'll defer to you on the parking problems, but DC Chapter members have sometimes spent more time searching for parking than driving to the site of a FReep whether it was a FReep of Clinton in the White House during his reign of error, the "get out of Cheney's house" FReeps of Gore in the VP mansion when he was trying to steal the election, or the recent support for Rummy rallies countering the left.

Somewhat agreed. The CS Gazette is probably the most conservative local paper in the country. If you recall, the last time the leftists gathered in the Springs, the CS police department obliged them by tear-gassing the lot.
