Nine people, including 2 Canadians, arrested after crossing into U.S. on a raft

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (AP) - An inflatable raft overloaded with nine people crossed the river from Canada into the United States where they were captured by U.S. Border Patrol agents.
The passengers sneaked into the U.S. early Saturday on a raft, powered by a small engine, that was "well beyond its capacity" in the number of passengers it was designed to hold, said Supervisory Border Patrol Agent Dan Allman.

"This is pretty much standard operation," said Assistant U.S. Border Patrol Chief Don Palacios of the agency's Buffalo office. "The rafts they use are not of commercial quality and there is always the fear of them being overloaded or completely falling apart."

Three women from India, a Pakistani family of four and two Canadians were taken into custody, Allman said. Seven will face criminal and administrative charges of illegally entering the U.S. Their identities will be made public during a scheduled court appearance Monday.

One of the Canadians will be charged with smuggling, and one of the Pakistani couple's two young children will not face legal action because she was born in the United States, Allman said.

Saturday's interception can be credited to stepped up patrolling of the region's border since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Palacios said.

A week is a long time for planning, something that you already have the supplies for.

I think of our special forces, they get an order, are loaded on a plane or boat and by the time they arrive, the job is well underway, they are trained to move and change at a moments notice.

I expect no less of the terrorists.

They don't need that much time to spray a few germs around, a bit longer for setting bombs in secret places, minutes only for a suicide killer.

Bear is right, as far as my social set goes. They are more informed because I irritate the stew out of them until they buy some supplies. Some folks I've just bought it and sent it to them. :)

People might not want to know, maybe because it scares them and they don't think they can do anything about it, anyway. I dunno. It's sad.

I looked online at State Farm, my homeowner's insurance, and one of the exclusions reads in "What's not Covered: Damage caused by settling, deterioration, contamination, or nuclear hazard." This is an excellent point because my understanding is that a primary aim of the terrorists is to erode our economy. It would sure be devastating to most families if they lost their homes to contamination and found out they weren't insured against the loss. Most people don't know their exclusions until it's too late. Now is a good time to review all insurance policies. From what I could gather, the exclusion from general acts of terror were for commercial properties, but I invite anyone to correct me who knows better.

Hi Quix. I am still reading this thread backward and forward and I have skipped around alot, but I did read your prior post. I agree with you about the Bible Code having more meaning in retrospect. I quickly read book 2; I didn't read the first book. Overall. I was rather disappointed in the book because I hoped for more stories about advance knowledge of completed events such as was the case with the Rabin assassination.

There were other minor interesting parts in the book that were found in retrospect, and, of course, there was the part about the possible nuke strike in a few years (but we have to wait awhile to see how that pans out).

After I read the book, I thought it would probably be more benficial for my inquiring mind to buy the code software and attempt to do some searches on my own. I never did, though.

Does anyone recall the muslim Civil Rights site that I found a few weeks ago?

It listed all of the muslims civil rights we had attacked, there were a lot of arrested and deported on there, that we did not hear about in the news.

The post that Calpernia sent this morning was about things we have done and may not know about.

There are enough terrorists under arrest, to keep the anti crowd in the street protesting.

In my opinion, if we knew who they were, the terrorists would also and would also know that their secrets might have been leaked.

Yes, I want to know it all and if I don't "know", then more than likely, I will don the tinfoil and write my version of the report.

To me, we are no more than the children, that I fought Bill's family for so many years, attempting to not have them talk about the prison records of the relatives in front of my Children.
