I just saw this on the news from LA. All the shots were fired from the car into the cab of the truck. They were definitely trying to kill the driver. He exited off the freeway and stopped, he got out and they shot him in the head. CHP thinks they were after the tanker and may have gotten scared after the long chase and shootings that they may have been spotted so they fled without the truck.
Poor choice of words. The infection is from an opportunistic pathogen. When normal levels of intestinal flora are present, the pathogen must compete to survive. Certain antibiotics kill off all the competition and the opportunistic pathogen is free to grow. The pathogen was already present among the normal intestinal flora.

The husband and wife team who started Snopes are admittedly very liberal. I know a couple things they claim are legend which are true (can't remember the details but they were about Hitlery). Snopes just get their info from the internet, as we all do!
They are right sometimes no doubt, but certainly not infallible, and they do have a strong liberal bias.
Drinking cultured buttermilk or eating yogurt will help to
put the good bacteria back in the stomach.

I can't imagine the terror that poor man went through. I don't think that I would have stopped and gotten out of my truck if I were in his situation. I would hope that I would have been able to maneuver the truck and run the shooters off the road!
