A mirror is an alternative location on the web where an identical copy of a particular site is hosted so that you can still get to it if the main site is bogged down or out of service. Some domain names have been outright hijacked and others are just interesting site names that are redirected to ItsHappening. The site is too offensive for some, but there are a lot of interesting characters there if you don't mind digging through the crud.

Greenpeace wants access to press during G-8


The group has been told that all non-governmental organizations, or NGOs, will be prohibited from distributing news releases at the media center.

"It's for working media and government personnel only," he said. "These are tax dollars we're using to pay for this center, and taxpayer money cannot be used to endorse a cause."

A lack of credentials to the media center does not preclude groups like Greenpeace from getting access to reporters, Bennett said.

"They can hold a press conference anywhere they want in town, and invite all the media they want," he said.

Greenpeace International has planned two events in Savannah about nuclear weapons proliferation and plutonium disposition issues. Both are on the summit agenda.

Over at TB2000 I came across a link where you can download the recording of the original Snowball intercept:

I have listened to this recording and I'm convinced it is a fake. This does not sound like a single sideband transmission. It is hard to describe if you have never heard a SSB transmission before, but there is a certain audio quality about it that is unmistakeable. Also there was no fading in the signal until the very end of the recording. It was way too "clean" sounding.

Regardless, it did send a bit of a chill down my spine, even though I am firmly convinced this recording is not authentic.

Here's something that piqued my interest that I found on another board. Strap on the tinfoil helmet tightly! In a few days is the date 6-6-2004, which in numerological terms is basically 666. The transit of Venus is upon us shortly after, an event which is pretty rare. Venus is called the Morning Star. Satan is also known by that name (Lucifer Lightbringer, the Morningstar). For those who have any knowledge of the occult, what do you think is the significance of the Morning Star passing in front of Sol to those who follow the dark path (also known as the enemy)?

Before anyone starts taking potshots at me, I'm not saying that you should buy into this. It is important to know that there are those in high positions amongst our enemy who do believe in it, and may act upon their beliefs accordingly.

You'll be surprised at how fast that your Arabic will come along if you practice it every day. I had the advantage of total immersion when I first learned. If you can get one of the Satellite TV providers and the Arabic stations, and start watching Arabic TV you will find that you learn very quickly, at least in terms of understanding and conversational Arabic. Reading is just a matter of practice.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I would imagine many cosmic events have been "found" by amateur astonomers; and since most amateurs would be happy to share their discovery, I would think it even more unlikely a catastrophic event could be hushed up. Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately no other one fits like potential impacts from celestial debris...impossible to calibrate size and location with a range of small interference to grand scale Biblical proportion global upset.

Makes perfect sense to send the navy out to sea especially given the Tsunami risks if large scale impacts and the related effects do occur but we also have to take in account the opportunistic nature of China and other governments to advance their agendas under any al qaida attack (or earth crisis for that matter) so the movement of the 7 fleets makes sense from a prevention perspective.

Perhaps the celestial scuttlebutt is only partially true (a milder risk to our security and well being) but opportunistic for us to deflect political flak about crisis management. The Dems can't really bash Bush about a celestial spanking though I expect they will try to use any man made crisis to their political favor.

On a related note, Esperanza has said the US will get a lash but isn't the greatest risk in the southern hemisphere?
