After displaying a painting of U.S. soldiers torturing Iraqi prisoners, a San Francisco gallery owner bears a painful reminder of the nations unresolved anguish over the incidents at Abu Ghraib -- a black eye and bloodied brow delivered by an unknown assailant who apparently objected to the art work.
The assault outside the Capobianco gallery in the citys North Beach district Thursday night was the worst, but only the latest in a string of verbal and physical attacks that have directed at owner Lori Haigh since the painting, titled "Abuse," was installed there on May 16.

Whoever hit that lady should be ashamed of him- or herself -- and I hope they catch the person. There are far better ways of voicing one's differing opinion. Resorting to physical violence only empowers and elevates the artist and gallery owner. The violence accomplished nothing other than elevating the gallery owner to the status of a martyr. It also increases the value of the art, which is otherwise worthless crap.

This is good news for humanity! Without condonning the action but just commenting on the human spirit of pride & preservation of character forcing someones hand. It's not a recommended response, but it sure did leave a mark and get noticed in a city of dingbats.
The intensity of the manhunt for the culprit will also equal the outrage. So lets see what happens if they find the perp.
Maybe the gallery owner should NOT have made a statement by putting this piece of crap in the window, shoving it in everyone's face. This is a BS story, glad her gallery failed and I congratulate the the local residents.
The irony, of course, is that it's only "hate speech" when a liberal's offended. Liberals, of course, can offend anyone they want.
