Posted on Fri, May. 28, 2004 Berg's sister confused over Moore's taped interview

PHILADELPHIA - (KRT) - The sister of Nick Berg, the contractor from the Philadelphia suburbs who was beheaded earlier this month in Iraq, says she's dumbfounded by reports that liberal icon Michael Moore had filmed an interview with her late brother for his new anti-war film.
"I'm very skeptical of this," said Sara Berg, a Virginia attorney whose brother's beheading sparked a global uproar.
But she said there was no way to confirm that Moore had sent a tape of the reported 20-minute interview to their parents' home in West Chester, as the filmmaker suggested in a statement Thursday, because the couple has been away.
Moore's acknowledgment that he had interview footage of Berg that had been shot - but not used - for his highly controversial "Fahrenheit 9/11" documentary may be the strangest twist yet in the increasingly weird saga of Berg and his Iraqi travels, which led to his slaying.
The initial story that touched off the controversy appeared Thursday on the online magazine Salon.com.
It said the interview took place in the United States late last year, before Berg, a radio-tower technician, made the first of two trips to Iraq seeking work there as a private contractor.
So, how would a completely unknown young wannabe contractor like Berg come to the attention of Moore, whose anti-President Bush screed "Dude, Where's My Country?" was the best-selling book in the nation at the time?
Stranger than that: Why would Moore or his crew interview Berg for "Fahrenheit 9/11" for 20 minutes, when Berg's family insists the slain contractor was pro-Bush and supported the American military action in Iraq?
The film, which just took top honors at the Cannes Film Festival, blasts Bush and shows graphic war footage from Iraq.
We may never know the answers, because Berg is dead and Moore says he has no plans to release the interview footage to the public.
"We have an interview with Nick Berg," Moore's terse statement said. "It was approximately 20 minutes long. We are not releasing it to the media. It is not in the film. We are dealing privately with the family."
Friends of Berg, the Henderson High School grad, say he was an adventurous, inventive and perhaps naive young man who simply wanted to help in the rebuilding of Iraq but disregarded safety warnings, traveling solo and in private taxis.
Berg was arrested by Iraqi police on March 24, held in custody for 13 days, and released - only to disappear again on April 10. His headless body was found on a Baghdad overpass on May 8, three days before the video of the decapitation was posted.
Despite some contradictory evidence, the CIA claims the execution was done by an al Qaeda terrorist, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
Since then, some have questioned why Berg had been in Iraq, as well as some of his strange connections.
The FBI questioned Berg in 2002 to find out why his e-mail password had ended up with an Oklahoma terror suspect linked to al Qaeda terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui.
In Iraq, Berg partnered with an ex-Philadelphia Iraqi expatriate who'd been convicted in a Russian-exile crack-vial ring before becoming the highly visible leader of an anti-Saddam Hussein group backed by the Bush administration.
The Berg family, as dedicated anti-Bush people, would have reason to aid agents within the U.S (prior to 2001) working against this administration. Nick or more likely his father, gave aid to Moussaoui with the net assistance. Are there deeper connections? Who outside the family can say? But it is very possible that Nick was in Iraq for reasons other than tower repair work.
That the seditious Moore Pig interviewed Nick is not so surprising since the Moussaoui connection was a known fact while Pig was putting together his anti-American film. That Nick chose to stick around in a dangerous country where he stuck out like a sore thumb as he traveled adds to the data we may contemplate ... if one is a friend of the bad guys, there is no fear that travel will expose him to grave dangers from the bad guys and he knows there is no insurrection from those friendly to the US in Iraq.
Nick, as a willing accomplice to some extent, became a pawn in Zaqawi's designs and Nick's father cannot bring himself to admit that his trist with evil has gotten his son killed, so Mister Berg lashes out at the only focus he can allow himself to have. Moore is a whore to exploit this twisted scene, but that is par for his ilk of socialist societal engineering bastards. The democrat party leadership is full of the same sortr of seditious goons.
I would have no problem with Ashcroft busting down Moore's door and arresting him for treason. It sure makes more sense than the Waco, Ruby Ridge and Elian fiascos.
Moore acts as if he's going to get away with all this that is what is so annoying.

Prometheus Methods Tower Services Inc., the business that cost Nick Berg his life in Iraq, has no records with the Pennsylvania Department of State.
It is important to remember when analyzing this situation that MMoorree is NOT the person who revealed this interview. In fact, he hid the fact of its existence until some anonymous person slipped the info to the press. MMoorree only then acknowledged it. He was not excited about having to do so.
This is not the typical behavior of someone who is simply an opportunist and media whore lying. It would be much more typical if he said, 'Oh, yeah, by the way, I just interviewed NB before he went to Iraq.' If it had been a total surprise to MMoore that NB had suddenly become a media celebrity, you can never convince me that he would not have played the existence of that tape up right away. If it were pro-Bush, it would serve as corroboration of Berg's dads case that Bush killed NB. If it were anti-Bush, it would immediately serve MMoore's cause of getting his film a sudden publicity shot-in-the-arm from an unexpected source.

Thank you so much for all this information!!!
Howlin - Thanks for the Pong: when you ping people on this list to an article, it might be good to also include the "Links" article for people to be able to catch up on the already known info. I see so many questions and comments and requests for info that has been covered, or more easily researched if this link article is looked at first:

She was his aunt not his sister.
You did not anwer my question: why would our side not say what we knew?
Nick Berg was seen on the morning of April 10; that is when he checked out of the hotel. There was one witness who added a description of which way Nick appeared to be headed, upon leaving the hotel grounds.
He was one of Moore's cameramen or frontmen in Iraq and Berg's father knew it.
By having the Iraqi police apprehend him and passing info to the insurgents that the FBI had met with him sealed his doom...thus the father blaming Bush for his death.
The real blame lies with Moore if anyone.
Me thinks the FBI planted rumors which the Iraqi police relayed to the terrorists after they found out from him that he had taken photographs for Moore...essentially sentencing him to death.
Thus the orange jumpsuit. He was in FBI custody.
Maybe a mix of liberalesque guilt (inherited from dad), naivete, avarice and starry-eyed optimism.
It's just that he's showing up more places than Tourist Guy.
Thanks...Regardless, it's a whole month between this date and when his body was found on May 8th.
I think the Michael Berg + International ANSWER + Michael Moore connections hold the key to this mess. International Answer dropped M Bergs name off their roster sometime after the roster was posted here (or just after Nick's beheading broke). Then, they had various media shills aggitating (trying to intimidate, IMO) about Free Republic being responsible for his death by publishing the list of names. Smokescreen.
In the pictures I've seen of him, he doesn't look evil. He doesn't have a face filled with hate that most liberals have --- so I would guess either naive or mostly apolitical -- maybe a friendly enough guy who happened to be raised by America haters and possibly taken advantage of by America haters.
bttt
Surprising but then again not. I wonder what Moore's angle is outing him.
