On April 29, 2004, as a service and tribute to members of the World War II Generation, the National World War II Memorial opened for public viewing, exactly one month prior to the formal Dedication Ceremony taking place May 29, 2004. The World War II Memorial is the first national memorial dedicated to all who served during the Second World War. The memorial, established by the American Battle Monuments Commission, honors all military veterans of the war, the citizens on the home front, the nation at large, and the high moral purpose and idealism that motivated the nation's call to arms. The Second World War is the only 20th-century event commemorated on the Mall's central axis. (from www.wwiimemorial.com)
Don't forget that you can watch the dedication today!! God Bless all of our Veterans & Active Duty!!! |

You feel like a bad father because:
A) You are defending your country honorably.
B) Your son doesn't know how awesome you are yet?
C) You are one of the most honorable people we've ever known?
D) You try to make this world safer for him in the long run?
E) You believe that "appeasing terrorists" is not a proper response nor responsible?
F) You believe that your beautiful family deserve to live in freedom without the worry of being brutalized by a dictator?
G) You believe that your wife is beautiful is intelligent, beautiful, and very capable. And thus you don't believe she should live under an oppressive way of life?
H) You believe that your child's dreams are important.
If that makes you a bad father, than sign more men up LC. Honestly, you ain't that damn bad.

I just posted a message to TS concerning a certain statement about the Navy's reputation...You and I are different on some issues..but we all stick together on one thing..
The poster better watch who he calls the enemy within. Sweet little old ladies get fiercely protective of our friends in service!(Go Navy)

I'm sure MoJo will be honored to share this with you! (Sorry you've encountered some FR jerks. But then, not everybody can be as nice as those of us in the Canteen, can they? ... In all seriousness, thank you for your service to our country. And keep those spirits up! You've got a book to write!)

I left my family, Sarge. What worse thing can a man do? OK, it had to be done, but I still sometimes feel like a heel, y'know?
Mrs. Cut is a real trouper, she takes it all in stride, but I'm the one that made it necessary for her to do that.

I know you are hurting, LC. However, think about the rest of us out here. My hubby's home right now, but he's gotta leave soon enough.
I DO NOT BELIEVE HE NOR YOU ARE ABANDONING YOUR FAMILIES.
You are doing one of the most honorable things in the world. If you can't see that, then come over here and I'll knock some sense into you. (Um, just kidding.)

You are in Maine, right? Why not have your family come stay with you? I am not familiar with Navy protocols, can it be done?

You should read the posts af the grown children of the WW2 vets posted today ..Some of their fathers were gone for years...They are so proud of their fathers. My son went over six months without seeing his father at all...and several 3 months ,2 months,6 weeks absences at the end of Korean War....He adored his Dad.

I feel like a bad father because:
- I'm not there;
- I missed his first words (Mama!)
- I'm going to miss his first steps;
- I'm not there;
- His Mama needs the help;
- DOES ANYBODY REALLY CARE??????????????????????????
Outside of the Canteen, that is?

LC....have you considered getting a couple story books and reading them into a tape recorder for Short Cut? And I hope you've been taking pictures, to show him the face of duty, honor, and country; to show him the things his Dad is doing to help make sure he grows up in a free and safe America.

Nope, you have a job to do. You knew that, your wife knew that. If the call comes down, you know I pack my stuff and go. Same goes with you. We signed up for this.
Your wife understands this. She stands by you. Your work is important. You need to remember that. It does not make you a bad father!
I have seen too many of my friends have a child and then bail by their own accord. These guys didn't want what you have. They did not have the guts to be a Dad let alone serve and be a Dad.

Awwww...just saw what has happened.
The Hallelujah crowd has struck again.
Oh well! Pray they get laid before they died and have a nice drink before they faint.
That's all. LOL!
