A Perth person with no fixed gender says new legislation which would ban all but traditional marriages is unlawful and undemocratic.
Prime Minister John Howard says the Government will only recognise marriages between a man and woman.
Alexander MacFarlane has both male and female physiology and says the legislation will prevent all intersex people from marrying.
Dr MacFarlane has vowed to take the matter to the High Court.
"According to the Australian democracy, every citizen has equal right for employment, for education and for respect," Dr MacFarlane said.
"John Howard's comments don't reflect that."
Mr Howard said yesterday the Government plans to ban same-sex marriages in Australia and stop gay couples from adopting children from overseas.
However, the Government has introduced legislation allowing same-sex couples to nominate their partner as the beneficiary of superannuation payouts.
This is too dumb to even bring up.
Wait a tic...he says he's a man and a woman, yet he still is a he? Well, if he's both, couldn't he marry himself?
This is BS, even an XXY or XXXY has is dominate to one or the other. Additionally, at birth they are listed as M or F. this is just an attack by homosexuals who are exposing their next line of attack upon passage of the Marriage Amendments.
if "he" follows what exists in the medical books "he" is steril and does not have a functional male sex organ. This should not be confused with the mental disease of transexualism.
So does he have a functioning female sex organ?
lol, this is so ludicrous, if it wasn't so funny, wait, I don't know what I would do...
Check here for info on the various intersex conditions (I just Googled that up to make sure my remark was correct).
It varies, from what I remember from university, Is there a vaginal hole? usually. Does it lubricate? Can the person achieve orgasm? it varies. Usually the child is assigned the female sex shortly after birth as those are the more present parts. (Jannet Reno is rumored to be such a person btw)
They are sterile. This is political game playing. What about males who are XX? They are very rare but do exist but have smaller genitals and are steril and short lived.
To be clear, they can produce children as the male or the female parent (depending on which gonads are the functioning ones). I don't mean produce children on their own or as either sex. LOL I'm not sure if that needed saying..
Intersex? You would think these people could at least come up with a better name for this crap. Like maybe multi-sex. I'm sure the liberals will fix that later.
Well then, old Alexander/Alexandra should just go #^ck himself/herself. Hermaphrodites, arise.
My understamding is that such birth defects leave the baby steril. IOW this complaining intersexed person will not be having babys naturally.
But, there are definitely intersexed people who can have children by natural means, though the percentage does vary by condition. Those conditions which are most obviously hermaphroditic do tend to also be the ones with the greatest rates of sterility.
As I said I was working from memory from human genetics classes at university.
From your refered site:
Chromosomally Intersexed - probably the most common form of intersexuality involves people who are either missing a sex chromosome or have extra sex chromosomes. The effects of such a condition vary widely. Some people show no outward signs of being intersexed while in others it is apparent at birth.
Genetically Intersexed - technically would encompass "chromosomally intersexed" people too. However it usually refers to individuals who have normal chromosomal makeup (XX or XY) but have a faulty gene on one of those chromosomes resulting in an intersex condition.
Physically Intersexed - the person has physical characteristics of both male and female. Usually this refers to a person with "ambiguous genitalia" (genitals that do not appear to be "normally" male or female). However it is also sometimes used to refer to anyone with a genetic or chromosomal cause, since those are physical characteristics as well, albeit at the molecular level. This term also encompasses those who present with ambiguous genitalia caused by developmental anomolies in the womb of environmental, rather than genetic, cause.
I was obviously refering to genetic defects at birth. There is only one reference to sterility in your source and that refered only to males with one of the the specific disorders, ""70% of Klinefelters males are sterile (though it is believed the 30% who are capable of spermatogenesis may actually be "mosaics" and not Klinefelter males).""
The mosaics have a mix of normal and defective genes throughout their body.
The site you which you refered to also contains information dedicated to transexuals which are just a mental disease. The only people in this issue who matter are those who have direct genetic issues and not mere birth defects or mere mental illness.
I agree this is a legal issue. This is just the left playing doublespeak games with law.
(Jannet Reno is rumored to be such a person btw)
So is Jamie Lee Curtis.
Like I said, I just Googled the website. The only point I wanted to make was that not all intersex persons are sterile. At least 1/3 of them are not (depending on condition).
The person may be a chimera....that would be interesting....
So it's a man with boobs. BFD. If that's what makes you intersex, then Ted Kennedy would surely qualify.
Well I think Dean Koontz had it in one of his books so maybe it did.
