Need Freeper Help to stop unwanted phone calls

At 8:15 this morning the phone started ringing. A fax machine is now dialing my number every 2 minutes. I tried returning the call but it's always busy. I have called the operator who said their company will try (3 times) to send a fax. I can't take the phone off the hook because I'm waiting for a delivery. A long weekend is ahead.

Freepers always have the best ideas. Help!

Thank you! I called Perot Systems. I had called earlier to 480-7200 but the main number is better. They're trying to locate the fax machine.

Back to square one. I just got a call from Perot Systems. They were very nice. They don't have that number assigned to them. They are contacting their phone company.

Your Ladyship? Check your phonebook for a "Last Call Received" service. For many areas its *69 and costs (each time used) from $0.50 - $1.00. Pick up on the next call, wait a few seconds and the hang up. Pick up quick and dial *69

Its designed to call back the last incoming call but before it does it tells you THE NUMBER being dialed - even if busy. Armed with that info you can complain specifically to the phone company and even maybe find out whose company is harassing you.

For easy fax vandalism, just get a long piece of paper, such as the fanfold printer type, feed it into the machine and tape the ends together.

You forgot that it should be BLACK paper.

Do you have the number of the fax machine that's trying to send to you?

If so, fax a sheet of black construction paper to the number about 10 times. It'll use up their toner. Then set it to auto-dial, and do it about 50 times and use up their paper.

Worked for me when a fax kept calling me at three in the morning. (I didn't even know there WAS a three in the morning until then.)

Send a fax back to them thats all black...really plays havoc with their fax machine....

I've got two business lines and my regular home number that have been inundated with faxes.

Through INTERNET research I was able to track the culprit Fax.com. Contacting them was useless. However, they are the head of the monster.

The best way to cut off the limbs is to contact the product advertising. I filled in the info for a nameless faxed health care advertiser. I asked them to contact me asap because I wanted more info. The guy called me and I let them have it. He was apologizing right and left and promised to get me taken off their list.

As I said, the way to go is to go to the list holder but I don't have a way. I have read that as of Jan 1, 2005 it will be illegal to send spam faxes. Save all faxes. At a cost of $3000 per spam it might be a money generator for you.
