(CNSNews.com) - President Bush Thursday received the endorsement of Rolling Thunder, a group that supports veterans and advocates veterans' issues. In a letter address to Bush, Rolling Thunder President Artie Muller said the group reached its decision by overwhelming majority in March. "We are grateful for the President's leadership in honoring our nation's commitment to veterans. We appreciate his leadership in the War on Terror and in protecting our homeland against those who threaten our freedoms and way of life. We will put our manpower and resources to work to ensure four more years of our Commander-in-Chief," Muller wrote in a statement.
Bravo Zulu.
I always thought rolling thunder was that shotgun drill you go through on the range every so often.
No, The Rolling Thunder Revue was Bob Dylan's 1975 tour with Roger Mcguinn.
it was also B-52 strikes in SE Asia.
They hold a rally every Memorial Day in Washington DC.
Thousands of bikers gather to pay respect to veterans.
Truly an awesome sight.
You've rekindled my memory now.

Hubby and I saw that in the summer of 1976 in Hattiesburg MS. Joan Baez was with him then as well as Kinky Friedman. Kinky sang "I'm Proud to be an A$$hole from El Paso". He had three backup singers in orange afro wigs, one of whom was Joan Baez!
It was a great concert, though Bob Dylan spoke only two words the whole night. He said "Thank you" at the end!
So much for john f'n kerry and his Harley.

Wasn't Rolling Thunder also the name of a Grateful Dead spin-off band?
That is precisely where I saw the tour too.
Jackson Native.
I saw Dylan on his gospel tour a few years later.....ugh...big difference......he got booed.

Now it makes sense. Brian Lamb said this morning on Washington Journal that C-Span will not be covering Rolling Thunder this year due to all of the events associated with the dedication of the WWII memorial. After more than 10 years of covering this event, I think the endorsement of Bush is the real reason why C-Span will not be covering it. With nearly 400,000 participants, I have a feeling that this will become a major Bush rally. I plan on attending as a spectator.
See my post #17.
considering recent crap they have covered, i am not pleased with this news. i thought the coverage last year was good. but i suspect your explanation for this year is correct.
see you there.
Although Rolling Thunder is a nonpartisan organization with a tax exempt status, they had no choice but to back Bush given Kerry's record on the MIA/POW issue let alone his antiwar activities. I would pay money to see Chris Mathews' reaction to this public display of veterans repudiating Kerry. He bought into this Band of Brothers nonsense not understanding how reviled Kerry really is by the vast majority of veterans, including me.
