I didn't see a live thread for it, so here it is. Randy Travis won song of the year (?) for Three Wooden Crosses.
He got a ton of awards at the Flameworthy Awards!
The Rock is a Republican, big time. He spoke at the convention in 2000.
Terri Clark sits wrong with me for some reason - she seems a little butch.
Amen to that!
ridin' trains, cryin' in the rain, honkey tonk angels and livin' with the pain.
Gettin' drunk, outa luck, drivin' in our pick-up trucks.
And I'm so sorry momma.
Jailed for days, hot nights, wicked ways and startin' fights.
Losers, boozers, livin' life, a good hearted wife.
And I'm so sorry momma.
It was music from the heart, words from the soul.
But now the music, is sold by the lawyers, and the fools who fiddled in the middle of the station are gone.

terri is a lesbian...but a quiet one.
I couldn't agree more. They are hunky!!!!!!!
I am trying to identify a song with only a few words remembered - hope you or someone can help me! And no it is not Alan Jackson's "Remember When".
The only words I can remember are:
--and in the end the greatest (something) is that you loved me.
help help help it is a beautiful song.
He gave a real mealy-mouthed interview to TV Guide a few weeks ago, saying he was a Democrat and emphasizing that Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue was about Afghanistan, not Iraq. I was kind of disappointed in him after reading the article.
I think you are dead on. Until Toby Keith came along, which he was fought at every turn, modern country was marketed to women almost exclusively.
¿Quien es "Dixie Chicks"? No hablo "Dixie Chicks".....
You can see that a mile away
If you're new to country music, you should know that the only modern-day country music worth listening to is Asleep at the Wheel and Alison Krauss. Otherwise, go with Bob Wills or Hank Williams.
There's plenty of good modern country. Gary Allen is one of many.
Did you read in TV Guide where Toby Keith said that he was a Democrat?????

"You've got to put your politics aside," Keith responded. "Willie understands where I come from, and he understands where I come from. I get accused of banging the war drum, but Willie knows me better than that. He knows we're all about peace. Sometimes [war] is the only answer.
"I never one time have ever, anywhere, said anything about the Iraq war. Some guy in L.A. wrote a column on me one time that said I was trying [capitalizing on the war] to save my career. That's such bullshit. There's a difference between supporting your troops. I'm an American. I can pick and choose when I can make my statements. Nobody should listen to what I have to say, anyway. They ought to worry about themselves.
"I know the troops really well. They come to my shows every night. They're missing arms, they're missing legs, burnt beyond recognition. They show up with a little old tore up, dusty CD cover and say, 'I want you to sign this. At every checkpoint, we stepped out, we saluted and played this song.' If it means that much to them, I don't give a damn what anybody thinks about it.
But as far as Willie's deal with John Kerry goes, people don't know that I'm a registered Democrat. I'm very conservative, to say, the least, but I'm a registered Democrat, and my family has been all along. I have to go from election to election and pick the guy I believe in -- and vote in my own manner. I vote for the guy who gets the job done.
"I don't envy President Bush's job. If he doesn't do anything about terrorism and we stick our head in the sand and something else happens, he's a goat. If he goes over there and it's bloody right now, it looks bad again. He's got a tough job. It's a no-win situation. It always is with war."
Being a registered democrat and voting like one is two different things.
That's why I didn't buy Toby's latest album, Shock n Y'all. He made comments about the Iraq war that he was against it. Don't remember the details now, something like, "that was a mistake", but he no longer wanted the image of "gung-ho let's go to war". I could have forgiven him for that, but he's come out lately as a Democrat....must be all that hanging out with Willy Nelson, smokin' and drinkin'. I'll enjoy their videos on TV but not send any CD royalties their way.
It was last year that he thought he was going to get totally stiffed, he lost award after award to Alan Jackson, so he disappeared before the final big award was announced....which he ended up winning. The announcers stood up there looking stupid, waiting for him to show. Later the story was, he went to Willie Nelson's hotel room and they worked on a song. Yeah, right!
