A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos) 5.24.2004

Over the weekend, mountain biking on his ranch, in the 16th mile of a 17-mile track, the President took a spill on ground that had been loosened from recent rain. With the Presidential physician nearby, he was patched up and resisted efforts by the Secret Service to transport him to the Hospital. He hopped on his mountain bike and rode back to the ranch.

The President and First Lady boarded AF1 after the hop from the ranch to TSTC to fly to Connecticut for celebratory dinners for Barbara Bush's graduation from Yale today.

The President will give a prime-time speech at 8 PM EDT tonight but has not asked for "time" meaning that it is voluntary for the stations to decide to carry his speech or not. The President is expected to give details relating to the turnover of Iraq by the end of June, and continuing Military presence in the region.

Waiting for the President's speech before supplying the "quote of the day".

Here's what the President is expected to discuss:

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said "The president looks forward to going to the Army War College to talk to the American people about the clear strategy we are pursuing in Iraq, and the steps we are taking to achieve our goals."

The spokesman added that Bush would outline efforts in five key areas -- politics and elections, security, reconstruction and diplomatic -- "to move forward on the transition to a free, democratic and peaceful Iraq."

"He will specifically talk about the new government: what it will look like, how it will function," when it takes over on July 1, White House Communications Director Dan Bartlett told NBC television.

FIRST, Mud! How be ya?

Barbara Bush, right, arrives at TSTC airfield Sunday May 23, 2004, in Waco, Texas, with an unidentified friend. Barbara Bush will graduate from Yale University on Monday.

President Bush and his wife Laura wave as they leave Marine One at TSTC airfield in Waco Texas Sunday May 23, 2004.

President George W. Bush walks from Marine One in Austin, May 22, 2004. Bush suffered minor abrasions after falling off a mountain bike while cycling on his Texas ranch on Saturday, the White House said. The 57-year-old Republican president had cycled 16 miles (25 km) of a 17-mile (27-km) afternoon bike course when he toppled over while riding downhill on what the White House described as soil loosened by recent rainfall. 'He had minor abrasions and scratches on his chin, upper lip, his nose, right hand and both knees,' White House spokesman Trent Duffy told reporters.

President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush wave as they depart TSTC Airport in Waco, Texas Sunday, walking toward AF1, May 23, 2004.

President Bush arrives with his first lady Laura, in East Haven, Conn., Sunday, May 23, 2004, to spend time with their daughter Barbara before she graduates with a degree in Humanities from Yale University on Monday. Evident on President Bush's chin, nose and right hand are scrapes from a mountain biking accident he had Saturday in Texas.

First lady Laura Bush gives a wave from a limo in East Haven, Conn., Sunday, May 23, 2004, as she travels with President Bush to spend time with their daughter Barbara before she graduates with a degree in Humanities from Yale University on Monday.

President Bush arrives on the South Lawn of the White House, Sunday, May 23, 2004, in Washington. Capping a busy family weekend, President Bush celebrated the graduations of his daughter Barbara from Yale University and Jenna in Texas on Saturday.

Pres. Bush, showing a bruise on his chin after taking a spill on a mountain bike over the weekend on his ranch in Crawford, Texas, waves to reporters as he returns to the White House, May 23.

I believe the line is "...two kinds of mountain bike riders. Those who have fallen and those who will." Road/trail rash is a badge of honor among most of the riders I've known. It usually means, no matter your skill level, that you've tried to go beyond your level of skill.....or got bagged by a terrain feature that won't get you in the future. Of course it has to be followed by getting back on the bike.

"Nice road rash Mr. President...dude!"

Well, the presstitutes are already at it. It's been reported, and from Fox News coverage, I can't tell if Kerry really said it or not, but Kerry is "reported to have said", - "Did his training wheels fall off?"

BIG DISCLAIMER. I repeat - I have been unable to verify due to Fox News' hazy coverage, whether Kerry really said this. But a Democrat spokewoman - or something said that IF Kerry said it, "it was a play on an earlier comment he'd made." Since I can't remember right now what she alluded to, I didn't think it was a "clever" play on words. Then again, to be truthful, I rarely think anything JFnKerry says is "clever" - just nasty, rude, harsh and stupid.

SECOND! You're welcome!

I didn't want to wait until after the President's speech at the Military War College - as it would be so late for us East Coasters. Besides, this way, we can "get" the discussion of the President's "ouchies" out of the way. LOL! ;o)

President George W. Bush walks from the Oval Office to the Rose Garden to honor members of the WNBA championship team, the Detroit Shock, May 24, 2004.

Detroit Shock head coach Bill Laimbeer gives President Bush a team basketball during and event in the Rose Garden of the White House to honor the Detroit Shock basketball team for winning the 2003 Women's National Basketball Association Championship.

At left is Shock player Ruth Riley.

President Bush smiles and poses with Detroit Shock basketball player Swin Cash after she gave him a team jersey during an event in the Rose Garden.
