There is no controlling legal authority.
This is great. the Rats are getting more and more over confident. They can be seen picking Kerry's cabinet and now Kerry is playing into the flip flopping, "Boston fog" stereotype.
Do I smell a 1988?
I think many Americans will look on this as another attempt to circumnavigate the rules and will be turned off by it. But who knows.
I don't know about 1988, but I smell a rat named Hillary.
I smell the burning of Thunder Thighs.
I don't think anyone wants to run with him.
Looks like he's desperately trying to get attention because he has no real message and unremarkable as a person.
If Kerry can do it, then so can Bush. And Bush can raise a LOT more money than Kerry, should it come to that. I guess that "rules" simply don't apply to Democrats.
This will be played by Karl Rove as the mother of all flip-flops and another Clinton-Gore "no controlling legal authority" replay. I can hardly imagine a lamer five-weeks for Kerry while he tries to have it both ways, both a nominee and a non-nominee. Honestly, the Bush campaign won't even have to push the issue--it simply won't pass the smell-test with Joe Six-pack.
Do it, alQerry, please do it.
This is a doubledipper for those freedom lovers among us.
First, the RAT nominee takes the lead in acknowledging CFR is silliness and money rules. How's McCain going to react? Should be fun to watch.
Second, he will once again, but to a greater degree, reveal himself to all of America as the pompous ass he is. While it might look smart to the likes of Al Franken, Main Street America won't buy it.
Do it, John, do it.
I can't help thinking that, if Kerry does delay accepting the nomination, it could result in one of the biggest political blunders in American history (Don't get me wrong - that wouldn't bother me in the least!). Does it leave open the possibility of someone else stealing the nomination out from under him? Is there anything in the party's rules that says the person nominated must accept or decline the nomination within a certian timeframe? Could this be the opening that Hillary is waiting for?
A great line, one the Bush Campaign should use should Kerry pull this stunt. In that event, they should run an ad with the "I actually voted for the [Iraq War] funding, before I voted against it" line, followed by a voiceover using your line.
Kerry's statement is jaw-dropping: "I'm not going to let silliness in the legal process deprive us of a full contest for the presidency of the United States." Ummm, excuse me, Senator. Who is engaging in "silliness in the legal process"? Grab a mirror, if you can stand the sight.
"I'm not going to let silliness in the legal process deprive us of a full contest for the presidency of the United States."
TRANSLATION FOR THINKING IMPAIRED: I'M GONNA CHEAT!
"Kerry undecided" That's news? Samo, samo. Waffles R him!
What's Kerry afriad of at the convention ?
Maybe the Dems will decide to replace him at the last minute (remember the Wellburn for Mondale funeral?)
Do you suppose the Federal Election Commission appreciates hearing their rules described as "silliness"?
