Randi Rhodes announced today that she is quitting Air America. Rhodes made the surprise announcement in a prepared statement at the opening of today's broadcast of the Randi Rhodes Show.

On a related note the Arbitron ratings came out (for New York only) and it is not pretty. Air America on WLIB came in ranked #24 between #25 Mexican Radio and #26 Wall of Voodoo.

LEGAL CLARIFCATION REQUIRED: If you quit on a radio show with no ratings does that count as a resignation?

In case you missed it...here is the updated timeline of the Air America Death Watch. I won't cheat and post it but I had meant to post a prediction that she would be the first to go. From what I understand she had a bigger audience in Florida then she was getting on AAR's "national" network. I don't think her little "assassination" joke helped.

Talk radio by rich hosts is inherently unfair. We need talk radio with poorly paid hosts. Randi should be forced to work for poor wages. And if she's paid more, we should tax her down to the same spendable income.

This shows how well they are doing. I live in C Springs and did not know they had a station here. Which is really dumb, we are not Boulder. We have at least five military bases here including the Air Force Academy, Fort Carson (huge Army base), and NORAD. Not the bastion of commie libs. What station is it? They also had the projected Colorado Springs station pull out due to AA's financial difficulties.

Just need to clarify that. AA had, and still has as of a few minutes ago, a Colorado Springs station listed as "coming soon" on their website but the station decided "no way". It never went on the air in Colorado Springs and most likely never will. Here's the thread about it;

I have no idea. I spent half the night last night myself looking for additional information on this assertion. I came up empty. I have to take the claim at face value . . .

Randi Rhodes has mentioned Free Republic many times in the past; she is certainly aware of this forum. Perhaps she will do us the honor of elaborating on this claim, though I doubt it. Its worth mentioning that her ability to avoid hyperbole is not one of her strong suits.
