If Hooters started a home delivery business, would it be called "Knockers"?
I base my opinions on the ads and PR campaign put out by the chain itself, what I know to be true about it, and because of the effect I believe this type of establishment has on girls and boys in this culture. Hooters is to a strip joint what Maxim is to Penthouse. It all comes from the same place which is jiveland.
I realized after I posted that you HAD to have been being sarcastic. I cannot imagine you didn't notice that already, BUT that said, in some states I have seen REGULAR "O"s for the eyes, so maybe you live in one of those states. Good luck with your search.
Well, give these parents 5 or 10 or 15 more years, upon which perhaps their daughters will do them proud by saying, "Dad, Mom, I'm considering a career at Hooters."
Or in 5-10-15 years maybe their daughter will come crying to them, begging for plastic surgery, or perhaps she will become an anorexic, druggie, alcoholic, sexually promiscuous, etc., because of the pressure to live up (should I say down) to standards set by places like Hooters, and by the boys who have grown up with a steady diet of Hooters et al.
BTW, Eowyn is my favorite female character in Lord of the Rings (...tho' I suppose she *is* the only major female character in the book...).
There is another--Goldberry. She was a powerful female character in the sense that she fully embodied the principle of yin. They didn't include her in the movie.
Ah, yes, wasn't she the wife of Tom Bombadil? I would've liked to see them both in the movie.
But Eowyn is much more "tangible" (for lack of a better word) and thus more endearing, IMNSHO.
Yes--Goldberry and Tom Bombadil were both rather other worldly, and "perfect", and I agree Eowyn is more tangible, probably because she is more like us--a "flawed" human with passion and spirit who fights for what she believes in.
I share your utter abhorrence at this almost unbelievable disgrace. If I lived any closer to your protest, I'd provide the gasoline!
