Interesting.

Now they are identified as members of Saddam's little group of terrorists. Didn't they identify themselves as Al Qaeda?

That's great news -- thanks for the post.

Look for the mainstream media to yawn and minimize this news -- they're more worried about panties on the head, and Nick Berg doesn't fit their script.

Iraqi police? Most likely four people yanked off the street so that the real culprits will get away with it.

I hope we don't put panties on their heads. That would be an atrocity. They deserve nothing less than a good shampoo and condition. Along with a well deserved manicure and pedicure. There better be plasma tvs in their suites as well or we will be pissed. When is the DNC sending an attorney to help them? Will there be a legal defense fund set up by Barney Frank and John Kerry? Will Jesse Jackson try to negotiate their release? What about their healthcare? Who will feed their children? Did Bush cause them to lose their jobs? What did WE do to cause these innocent men to kill? Did Berg hurt their feelings? We need an investigation.

Fox News just reported that they talked to someone in the Coalition Authority. The four were detained, not arrested. Two have been released and two remain detained in connection with Berg's murder.

Watch the mods move the thread to chat.

That's what they did last time the story was reported.

It's hard to believe that we have the kind of good intelligence to run these creeps to ground so soon after their crime but not good enough intelligence to capture them (and their friends) before they carry out their missions. There are criminals, mass murderers, etc.in the US that it takes officials years to catch up with. And, here in the US, there is more crime fighting infrastructure, personnel, co operation, etc. at the disposal of law enforcement. Am I being naive?

Perhaps their executions or better still thier "burial" in a hog yard should be video taped and provided to Al Jazeera for the viewing pleasure of the Muslim world.

They were arrested a week ago.

Can anyone guess why nobody confirmed these captures when the story first broke? Why did it take 4 days?

Who cares. Even if it is legit they'll have a trial with the NYT, LAE, Washington Dishrag, along with all the unwatched networks crying over a "fair trial" which will probably happen with the ultimate penalty being the killing of their wives or sisters as the penalties.

If they really have the bastards, a simple cutting off of their heads should be appropriate.

Reannounced by AP today. I wonder why???? This doesn't make sense. Maybe this particular online site didn't have enough news for the day.

Iraq says it has arrested four men in beheading of Nicholas Berg

(Baghdad, Iraq-AP, July 5, 2004 5:48 AM) _ Iraq arrested in May four men accused of involvement in the beheading of American businessman Nicholas Berg, a government spokesman said Monday.

The arrests had been previously announced, and it was not immediately clear why the government announced them again Monday.

Maj. Gen. Hussein Ali Kamal, the undersecretary at the Interior Ministry, told Iraqi radio Monday that four men had been arrested in the Berg case. The report was confirmed by Iraqi officials, who later clarified that the men had been arrested in May and the arrests were announced at the time.

The arrests were reported at the time by The Associated Press. The report said that two of the detained were later released, citing a U.S. military spokesman.

Berg, 26, was kidnapped in April and his decapitated body was found in Baghdad in May. An al-Qaida affiliated group claimed responsibility.

Now Nicholas Berg's father can hire their defense attorneys and argue that is was all President Bush's fault ...
