Deal clears way for votes on 25 judicial nominees

President Bush reached a deal with SenateDemocrats yesterday to dislodge 25 of his stalled judicial nominees.

Mr. Bush agreed not to bypass the Senate by using recess appointments to install any more nominees on the federal bench, in exchange for Democrats' granting final confirmation votes on 25 of his blocked judicial nominees, including five who are nominated to federal appeals courts.

Pardon my language, but WHAT THE HELL?! The dimocrats illegally block the up or down vote on nominees and they get rewarded with success in stopping the ones they don't like as well as a promise not to use the only way around their illegal block?!

I saw this yesterday on TV. My reaction to this news is:

I saw Das-hole on TV making it "very clear" that this is only a compromise for 25 predetermined candidates. None of the more "controversial" nominees were being considered - nor will they ever be.

No joke. The Democraps got two things. First, they appeased the activist fruitcakes by getting the President to agree to not appoint any more judges. Second, they now get to say, "Blocking nominations? What nominations? We're cooperating - we just agreed to give him 25 judges."

I think the Prez must have run out of nominees willing to accept recess appointments.

The Republican Senate should be embarrassed. It almost makes me hope they loose control, then they'll have a better excuse.

It now appears that the U.S.Constitution no longer applies to Demoncrat senators. I would like to think that they will pay someday but I doubt it.

The founding fathers are rolling over in their graves on this one.

Sen. Orrin G. Hatch has postponed the committee hearing on his nomination 19 times while he negotiates with Sen. Carl Levin, Michigan Democrat, over Judge Saad and three other Bush nominees from Michigan. Mr. Levin remains angry that a a cousin's wife wasn't confirmed to that same court when President Clinton was in office.

The Senate is full of vengeful, selfish, spiteful losers who hold grudges for years. Atta way to put the country's interests first, Senator Levin!

We just gave up the chance of getting real judges and we gave away the issue. A fitting denoument to a long running fiasco.

OK everybody --go back and reread the terms carefully. Bush agreed not to use recess appointments for the rest of his term. That means THIS term, once he is reelected and is on his new term the deal no longer applies.

Basically this was a 25 for 5 trade for 6 months. IOW Bush just got 83% of his nominees approved instead of ZERO.

Mr. Holmes has been harshly criticized for religious writings in which he said women belong in roles subservient to men.

This criticism is shared by several Senate Republicans, including Sens. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island, and Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine.

Here's the issue why the deal was struck. On paper, we are getting 56 votes to invoke cloture. It includes the above 4. In reality, we are 8 votes away and not just 4.

The rino senators vote for cloture because they know it won't be reached. If it were ever reached, they would then vote against it.

A side note: I'll bet what the religious writings of Mr Holmes really said was that a husband has the servant leadership rresponsibility in the home. This is biblical.

The above, though, does constitute a religious test for a government office. Now THAT is illegal.

Absolutely correct. And that's 25 Republican-selected judges on benches around the country that cannot be dislodged no matter who wins in November.

Now, lets work to reelect the President and expand the Republican majority in Congress (especially the Senate).
