Floyd, I'm truly sorry to learn this. Rest assured, your Dad knew how much you loved him. They ( your family ) know these things, even when they aren't voiced.

Think of the people who grow up without an intact family, and don't even know their father! Amazing thought, to us who suddenly don't have the opportunity to visit their father after never knowing the time when he wasn't around!
