Jayna Davis Dissects Berg-Moussaoui Links

Was executed American contractor Nicholas Berg's decision to share his computer password with alleged "20th hijacker" Zacarias Moussaoui during a 1999 encounter in Norman, Okla., just a coincidence, as Attorney General John Ashcroft assured the nation last week?

Or was there more to this bizarre development than meets the eye?

Oklahoma City bombing investigator, former NBC reporter Jayna Davis, has been exploring some of the more troubling aspects of the Berg-Moussaoui meeting, especially in light of the role the city of Norman played in events leading up to 9/11.

First, says Davis, the official story which had Berg, then a University of Oklahoma engineering student, innocently giving up his password to Moussaoui is, in her words, "totally nonsensical."

On Sunday Davis explained why to WABC Radio's Monica Crowley:

"You're sitting on a bus. It's a five-to-ten minute ride [from campus to the Airman Flight School where Moussaoui was taking flight lessons.] How in the world would a stranger sitting next to you say, 'Hey, can I borrow your laptop computer because I want to log onto your email?'"

For the question to make sense, Davis argued, "You would have to have a cell phone, a modem and be online for it to be a logical request in the first place."

The investigative journalist noted also that the FBI's version of the password incident differs considerably from that given by Berg's own family.

Berg told the FBI that "he was with an unidentified man who turned out to be a terrorist who passed this information about his confidential email account to Zacarias Moussaoui," said Davis. Meanwhile Berg's family insists that it was Moussaoui himself who met Berg on the bus that day.

"One theory the FBI was looking into was that it wasn't just this hapless encounter with an unidentified terrorist on a bus," Davis told Crowley, explaining that

Berg "may have known" Moussaoui's two OU roomates.

"One of these men is known as Hussein al-Attas," she noted. Like Berg, al-Attas was an engineering student.

"He's the OU student who personally drove Zacarias Moussaoui to flight training in Minnesota in August of 2001," noted Davis. "That's when the two were detained on immigration violations."

And that's where the story takes a sinister turn.

According to Davis, a notorious individual with known terrorist ties attempted to post bail for Moussaoui's roomate. The unnamed benefactor was, said Davis, "vice president for overseas operations and recruiting for Al Fatah and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood."

"At the time, the Al Fatah recruiter was the target of a full field FBI investigation by the Oklahoma City headquarters," she told Crowley.

Another intriguing twist cited by Davis: Lead 9/11 hijackers Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi toured the same Norman flight school in July 2000.

According to MSNBC, Atta and al-Shehhi stayed overnight at the Sooner Hotel on the OU campus, where Airman students get a discount - but left without signing up.

I'm glad this is being explored. We may never know the truth and Nick Berg certainly didn't deserve to die the way he did.

Berg was a techy guy, well-versed in telcom. He probably had all sorts of neat gear. I don't find this surprising.

What makes you think Jayna Davis is a leftist?

Jayna is no leftist. As I understand, anybody please correct me if I am wrong, NBC fired her after her inquiries after the OKC bombing.

Maybe he's getting mixed up between Jayna Davis and Gena Davis the Leftist star?

Aye. It was the Palestinians who started the whole hijacking thing, though. It was the Palestinians who formed Black September (now the PFLP). It was the Palestinians who brought back suicide bombings in the post-WW2 world.

Hmmmm, hijackings...suicide attacks...in September...

...Being led by people with direct ties (their *recruiter*) to the Palestinians.

Nope, no story here. Move along, people.

I was a bit baffled by the "leftist" comment about Jayna Davis. She's been working hard to show the public her research into an Iraqi-OKC connection. And she's writing this for Newsmax.

Nothing to see here folks. This email rumor has been debunked, I hear over and over. Move along now, that's a good lad.

Berg isn't the only one with connections to Moussaowiwowee who has met an untimely death. The copilot for Paul Wellstone's fateful flight also gave Mouseewoweee access to a computer. Interesting coinky-dink.

Berg may have been eying the Middle East for opportunities even before 9-11. He may have befriended these guys to gain future business indebtedness. (This sounds like his character.) From his father's background, he would have been a multiculturalist, and may have sharred the e-mail link to ingratiate himself. "Oh, you don't know how to get on line? Here let me show you."

Let's not forget the other interesting email connection: Nick Berg's final inexplicable urge to run the terrorist gantlet up to Mosul to teach his former Iraqi uncle how to set up an email account.

Nobody in Mosul knows how to do this, you see. It was certainly worth risking your life, to drive up the badit highway in a cab, to meet your former Iraqi uncle, to help him with his email account. Face to face, in person.

Nothing here folks, move along.

I think it was a confusion between the two. When I looked at the name real fast, at first I thought it was Gena Davis.

"Two former Pan Am program managers who tipped the FBI to Moussaoui's suspicious behavior at the school in August 2001 told the Star Tribune that Guess inadvertently gave Moussaoui unattended access to a computer program on flying a 747 jumbo jet.

"One of the ex-managers said Guess placed a CD-ROM containing the 747 software at a work station in advance of one of Moussaoui's training sessions, before his flight instructor arrived. After Moussaoui was arrested and the FBI searched his belongings, they found the proprietary program copied on his laptop computer, the ex-manager said."

Dissociated Press, 10/26/2002.

OK, so when does Moussaoui link up with Kevin Bacon in six steps or less?
