I was reading the link that WestCoastGal posted:

http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvrd/hfmd.htm

From what I read, it seems the Agricultural Disease is different then the child disease. My partner did use the word coxsackie as well as foot and mouth though.

I honestly never heard of foot and mouth disease as a childhood disease myself. I always thought it was an agricultural disease.

Mamadearest and Domestic Church might be able to clear this up when they login though.

HF&M is different from F&M...just a kiddie a summer virus - I overreacted as well...hands full here ( and little sleep) with everyone down with a chest cold... and a new puppie in house tearing up the portfolios as soon as I put them together.

A U.K. webpage claims humans are not susceptible to "foot and mouth" or "hoof and mouth", but may carry it. I was confusing "foot and mouth" with the more common "trenchmouth" a.k.a. Vincent's angina. Trenchmouth is common in people with poor oral hygiene and weak immune systems. See link for more info.

Both the Pro Med bulletins said "Foot and Mouth disease" and it was in children.

It not all that uncommon.

I've know 3 public school moms who told me that some kid in school had foot and mouth disease.

I thought it was a joke.

It wasn't.
