1970's songbird Linda Ronstadt, best known for her torch song-style and mellow ballads, is working overtime these days trying to persuade her fellow Arizonans that it's time to dump President Bush "right away."
In an interview broadcast on Saturday, Ronstadt was in the middle of explaining to WABC Radio's Mark Simone why she prefers living in Arizona to Los Angeles or New York, when she added one caveat.
"The politics are very conservative here and I'm not conservative. I'm having a hard time sometimes convincing people that we need to vote for a new president," she offered.
When Simone begged to differ, the singer insisted, "We need a different president right away, I think. I think we should impeach this one [rather than wait for] the next election."
Asked if she could support Sen. John Kerry despite his admission that he committed war crimes in Vietnam, Ronstadt told Simone, "I don't know about that? He might be a little more understanding of what these guys [U.S. GIs in Iraq] are going through."
She needs to find a deep blue bayou and go gater hunting, using herself for bait.
And apparently was so out of control that his fellow officers told him to leave Vietnam. But of course the media entirely ignored all the veterans against Kerry having a press conference. Did they even get a few minutes on CSPAN?
Looks like Linda should sing at the end of the Dem convention so everyone will know it's over.
No, That's Stevie Nicks. In an old interview denying that she (Nicks) paid an associate to blow coke up her -ss: "Maybe that rumor came from the fact that people knew I had such a big hole in my nose, which didn't stop me doing cocaine one little bit." Maybe he couldn't tell the holes apart.
It's not doing her any favors now, though.
I used to enjoy Linda's music. She was not as good as people liked to think she was, but she did have potential. I don't think she ever fulfilled it. I saw her in concert several times.
But even when I was listening to her back in the eighties, I used to think, "What a shame someone with such a nice voice is such a whack."

I'm surprised that Linda could get her face out of the refrigerator long enough to complain about Bush.

I still often play her "greatest" compilation album with her standard stuff. "Long, Long Time," "Desperado," "Love has no Pride," "When Will I be Loved," etc.
I think what I am saying is, I don't ever think she reached her full potential. When I first heard her, I thought she could have eventually become another Patsy Cline.
