Contact: Christine Iverson of the Republican National Committee, 202-863-8614 WASHINGTON, May 15 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The RNC today sent a new web video to more than 700,000 Team Leaders, pointing out that John Kerry has a few things in common with the cicadas. "Nature is a consummate teacher and in this case the lesson is-no matter how hard they try, a cicada will always be a cicada and John Kerry will always be John Kerry," said RNC Communications Director Jim Dyke.

Video is available online at http://www.gop.com ---

Script: "Cicadas"

NARRATOR: "Every 17 years, cicadas emerge, morph out of their shell, and change their appearance. The shells they leave behind are the only evidence they were here. Like a cicada, Senator Kerry would like to shed his Senate career and morph into a fiscal conservative, a centrist Democrat opposed to taxes, strong on defense...

But, he leaves his record behind. 17 years ago, Kerry voted to raise taxes by $24 billion dollars."

CHYRON: "Kerry voted to raise taxes by $24 billion"

NARRATOR: "17 years ago, Kerry voted to eliminate Minuteman Missiles."

NARRATOR: "17 years ago, Kerry voted for an $800 surtax on Medicare recipients."

NARRATOR: "17 years later, he is for raising taxes, voted against funding our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and wants to take the prescription drug card away from seniors. When the cicadas emerge, they make a lot of noise. But they always revert to form, before disappearing again."

RNC CHAIRMAN ED GILLESPIE: "The Republican National Committee is responsible for the content of this advertisement."

Do they have cicadas in Vietnam?

Cicadas are annoying, noisy and everywhere. Maybe that's the connection.

Kerry is so dull he could bore the creosote out of a telephone pole.

I think I have figured Kerry out. He goes to get coffee in the morning and sits near a large group of people. He of course is wearing a disguise. Whatever the hot topic is politically, he is standing behind it. He has no convictions of his own, it is only what he thinks everyone wants to hear. He is a loser in every way, hypocrite extreme! To even consider him viable is indicating a waste of brain cells.

Cicadas spend most of their life underground. John Kerry will do the same after the election.

Yeah, while Bill and Hillary run the country. Kerry is, however, pulling out the stops to win this thing like no Dem-o-rat I've seen before him. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool conservative; politically active and I received a fundraiser letter from Kerry yesterday. That's a first in 20 years for me. Like I say, they're pulling out all the stops. Oh, and the funny part, the letter was hand addressed. The envelope got a little wet and the ink smeared.

My friend "perfect stranger", recieved one of Kerry's letters with a bumper sticker and he is a registered republican. He's a strong minded conservative, so the irony is amusing.

I wonder if John Ashcroft saw this, and that's what prompted his joke about the government not being responsible for the chicadas but he was going to apologize for them anyway?
