Michael Berg lashed out at President George W. Bush and his administration during his first public comments since his son, Nick Berg, was murdered by al-Qaida terrorists.
"Nicholas Berg died for the sins of George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld," Michael Berg said. "The al-Qaida people are probably just as bad as they are, but this administration did this."
The 20-minute, impromptu briefing took place outside the familys home on the 1200 block of Estate Drive, West Whiteland, on Thursday morning.
"This is an administration that allows something that they arrogantly called the Patriot Act to strip away America, to make America not the America that I grew up in," Berg continued. "It was a coup detat. At first a bloodless coup detat, but unfortunately afterward it has become very bloody."
On the front lawn of the Bergs home was a blue sign with that read: War is not the answer.
Michael Berg said he posted the sign there. It belonged to an organization called ANSWER, which is an acronym for Act Now to Stop the War and End Racism.
Berg has been a member of the group, he said, since participating in a rally in Washington, D.C., in March 2003.
"It is something that I am not ashamed of. I am proud of it."
He continued, "I think stopping the war and ending racism are extremely important things that this world has to do right now. I am proud to be a member of ANSWER and I plan to be at the march on June 5.
"I know it is considered a radical group," Berg said. "but I want to ask: Radical as compared to what? The Bush administration? Ill be radical."....."

What is with this guy? I'm amazed at his misdirected anger.
I saw Berg's father riding his little bike talking to press, I thought I was seeing the idiot Kerry.
Berg's father is a total twit. Did he ever tell his son that sticking his nose into Iraq was an extremely foolish and pointless thing to do? It's not like he was some poor SOB like Jessica Lynch who joined the National Guard to get college tuition money and wound up crippled.
He's a leftist. So, he takes no personal responsibility. All the responsibility is the Government's.
We're heading into Rachel Corrie territory with this one, AB. The liberal media are going to increasingly deify Nick Berg as a sacrificial lamb.
I've pushed that very thought away a dozen times over the last two days. I just can't see the two as being alike except for the outcome.
Did Nick share his father's feelings? If so, why would he enlist? Did Michael Berg get the memo stating the draft is over and his son enlisted? Enquiring minds wanna' know.
What we've seen out of M. Berg the last 48 hours is not the behavior of a grieving father. He is doing a political dance on his son's grave. Oh wait....his son isn't even in the ground yet.
It couldn't be because of the Islamoterrorist.
It couldn't be because he is Jewish.
It couldn't be because he was in a war zone.
It couldn't be because he was an opportunist trying to scam big money selling communication towers.
It couldn't be becausehe had been told to get out of Iraq, and was even offered transportation that he refused.
There they go again, it was the sins of Bush and Rumsfeld.
Mr. berg, I have a bridge ...
Your views are formed by reason and logic, Glenn. The libs' views are formed by emotion and prejudice, and they'll have no trouble drawing a clear connection. What's the bet Berg Senior has been sounded out by the Dems as to whether he's considered running for office?
Ignore my post above - too early in the morning. Confused Berg with Pfc. Burge. Berg was civilian.
Probably?
Ideology trumps grief sometimes.
I didn't link to the rest of the article, but I'm SURE there is no mention of ANSWER's roots in the communist World Worker's Party.
