Really?

Though I'm not as adventurous as Nick Berg, I am pretty right-wing and I sponsor a child overseas and have had thoughts of helping people in different ways.

Or are you sayin the right is uncaring?!

I don't usually wear tinfoil but am thinking of making a little hat for this one.

LOL, I am too. I have been "suspicious" of Berg's activities in Iraq, especially since learning that he was making his way around the country without a translator or driver. That is, until someone describes a different reality, not what you do. He was not fluent in the language, he was Jewish and he was in a war zone. I have many friends who have been around the world and in unsafe places, some I might say are a little Nick Berg like in terms of seeking adventure, but you always set yourself up with local "guides," unless they are already established.

I am curious if the brutal nature of his murder was not intended as a message to someone other than the United States.

I am more suspicious than ever that maybe his father's statement about Nick Berg supporting Pres Bush and the war was a lie, meant to sidetrack us from the truth....

You mean like like one of the New Jersey Four saying she voted for Bush?

his fraternal aunt (now deceased) was married to an Iraqi.

I wonder was his Aunt jewish as well? That would make for a very odd coupling.

Nichols wife's maiden name - Padilla.
Berg gets into Iraq the same way Americans get into Cuba, third country travel such as Canada or Mexico. Berg gets into Iraq through Turkey.
USA to Israel. Israel has diplomatic relations with Turkey. Mosul is in the northern 1/3 of Iraq, near Turkey. Berg is in.
After the 1st WTC bombing, does Clinton want another Arab related catastrophe. Same with Flight 800.

I had to read the whole thread to see whether or not anyone else came up with your "tin-foil" scenario before I posted.

When I saw the possible Mousosoui connection, the first thing that went through my mind was that this "kidnapping" was staged and that Berg (who really had no obvious legitimate reason for being in Iraq --i.e, you don't go to iraq to get radio tower construction business when there is more business in the US than you can shake a stick at) thought he was going to participate in a phoney staged kidnapping, but to his surprise, he was the unwilling participant in a real murder. His own. Allah Ahkbar.

Your musings may just be accurate.

The big question that needs to be answered is why was Berg in Iraq? I really don't buy the fact that he was trying to get contracts to build communication towers. You don't do that on your own. You need a crew of 20 or more people and a whole slew of local connections to pull that off. He was apparently there on his own. That doesn't make sense. Especially when (with the cell phone business growing daily) there is more business for communication tower builders in the US than they can handle.

Don't distract anyone with the truth. IN Berg's email he says Mosul is pretty quiet and doesn't even seem like it's occupied except for the rare checkpoint.

People on FR must think there's nothing but bombings and shootings when the reality is, much of it can appear normal.

Looks like some on this thread are already willing to ignore all testimony and evidence to the contrary and call Nick a traitor.

Or that because he wanted to help people and give his life purpose, that he is some kind of lefty. Was Mother Theresa a leftist nutjob, sheesh?

Interesting. Maybe by the iraqi police keeping him as long as they did, his "friends" thought he turned on them and was cooperating with coalition forces, and that led to his death.
