PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - The father of Nick Berg, the Pennsylvania contractor beheaded in Iraq (news - web sites), on Thursday directly blamed President Bush (news - web sites) and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for his son's death.
"My son died for the sins of George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld. This administration did this," Berg said in the interview with radio station KYW-AM.
In the radio interview from outside his home in West Chester, Pennsylvania, a seething Michael Berg also said his son probably would have felt positive even about his executioners until the last minute.
"I am sure that he only saw the good in his captors until the last second of his life," Berg said.
Then, referring to his son's executioners, he said: "They did not know what they were doing. They killed their best friend."
Two days after the publication of a video showing the execution of his son by five masked men, Berg attacked Bush administration for its invasion of Iraq and its sponsorship of the Patriot Act, which gave increased powers of surveillance to the federal government.
Berg described the Patriot Act as a "coup d'etat." He added: "It's not the same America I grew up in."

Evil Does ExistOur current crises, in meeting the threat of the Third Jihad, is one more example of how most Americans simply refuse to believe there is evil in this world and are willing to grant moral equivalence on any human action. Unless the crime is personalized such as in the case of Lacy Peterson, we lose interest quickly and become bored or at least not involved.
To try and understand what we are facing, look into the eyes of your son or grandson and try to fathom a mind which would take pride in strapping a bomb to his body and sending him out to kill himself and countless innocent people. Or in the case of your daughter or grand daughter, try to imagine a religion which commands you to mutilate her vagina to destroy her sex drive or demands you to stone her to death if she has sexual relations with a man other than of your choosing.
If you can comprehend these facts both intellectually and emotionally, then you will start to understand what we are facing in the months and years ahead, both at home and abroad.

This is sad...ridiculous...why do I think it is a ploy
by the Democratic individuals who probably checked his voter
registration and somehow figured he could help Kerry and the Dems by this ghoulish accusation....let me say this..
anyone who is going through what this man is...deserves
every bit of support and sympathy..but he has lost me
because of the Bush bashihg mentality that shows me no
sorrow but a vindictive attitude...motivated by who or
what???????????? Jake

Absolutely unbelievable. Well, Mr. Berg, perhaps our nation's sympathy at your son's murder was misplaced. At least it wasn't one of our loyal soldiers, we should be glad for that.
You, sir, should be careful what you say about your dead son. He just went from "victim" to "stupid 'red diaper baby' idiot whose stupid idiot Commie father didn't teach him not to hang out with 'friends' like Al Qeada".
I hope you don't think that's too harsh. It's just that if they went and whacked a "fellow traveler", well, let's just say that it's ironic. And once I put your son into the "Friends of Al Qeada" category, it even begins to be a little funny... kind of like that little Commiebitch Rachel Corrie, except even stupider, because you make it sound like he died too stupid to realize that the monsters who kidnapped him weren't his "friends".
"I am sure that he only saw the good in his captors until the last second of his life," Berg said.
There IS no good in his captors, you lunatic! They are subhuman animals that slaughtered him like an animal because he bore your Jewish last name! Thank God it was your son and not one of our service members. /RANT OFF>

There is a lot of fog and confusion over this, I'm thinking. Too many different, and very odd, stories.

Yes - I think I'm going to have to agree with you for now. Even Rush said yesterday, after watching the video, that he would give them a pass for whatever the family might say or do, no matter what.
I have not seen the video - but I cannot imagine what it must be like for the family to have to go through this horrific ordeal. I'll give them time, too, to say ridiculous things.

Didn't I hear that ANSWER made a public statement that they unconditionally support the Iraqi resistance? Someone had better explain to Mr. Berg that, as a member of ANSWER, he supports his son's killers and the men he's attacking, Bush and Rumsfeld, are the ones fighting against his son's killers.

I simply can't understand how this father can let his grief be subsumed by ideological hatred like this. The unholy zeal with which these socialist cretins lay the blame for their own f'ups at others feet is obscene.

I'm afraid you are right my friend. We are in a Holy war whether we like it or not.
These people don't value life like we do. They admit that they prefer death to life.
On many threads I've been predicting a terrorist attack in America before the election. I pray that I am wrong but I think it will happen.
And Sept. 11th? It will be a fender-bender compared to what is about to come.

I'm starting to wonder if the "Nick Berg was a Bush supporter" story is just a
cover for the real story.....
was Nick Berg in Iraq as an anti-war zealot, perhaps even
at his father's behest?

Let me get this straight...he practically praises those who butchered his son and taped it and aired it for the world and turns around and blames Bush and Rumsfeld.
Can this father not see any good at all in Bush and Rumsfeld? None? Apparently he prides himself on his "tolerance" of his son's murderers but can't grant the same to his own country. He knows what was done to his son and he sees evil in the President of the United States and the Secretary of Defense.

So his father is saying his son was a supporter of islamic terrorists, and even an terrorist himself. No, that's not what he's saying. Nick Berg was a Bush supporter and believed that the war in Iraq was right.
The dad was simply saying that his son was good hearted and would be anyone's friend. I'm sure his father is idealizing his son due to his grief.
The father is the leftist, not the son.

... or perhaps Mr. Berg is insane with grief ... In the name of decency, I'm forcing myself to give dad Berg the benefit of the doubt.
I have read his son's attitude and accomplishments. His son was a civilian hero by anyone's standards, liberal or conservative. I will not let his father's statements diminish this.
Dad Berg was a member of ANSWER. He has probably not gone a day over the past four years without blindly saying out loud "I hate Bush". Its simply a reflex action, a habit, an easy crutch. Thus when this ultimate devestation occurred, he fell back on the crutch at a time when he needed a crutch. He just simply didn't know what else to do, so he did what he's been doing all along - speaking out against Bush.

His son was not an anti-war activist. He supported the administration and the war in Iraq. His father was the leftist nutcake.
