PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - The father of Nick Berg, the Pennsylvania contractor beheaded in Iraq (news - web sites), on Thursday directly blamed President Bush (news - web sites) and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for his son's death.

"My son died for the sins of George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld. This administration did this," Berg said in the interview with radio station KYW-AM.

In the radio interview from outside his home in West Chester, Pennsylvania, a seething Michael Berg also said his son probably would have felt positive even about his executioners until the last minute.

"I am sure that he only saw the good in his captors until the last second of his life," Berg said.

Then, referring to his son's executioners, he said: "They did not know what they were doing. They killed their best friend."

Two days after the publication of a video showing the execution of his son by five masked men, Berg attacked Bush administration for its invasion of Iraq and its sponsorship of the Patriot Act, which gave increased powers of surveillance to the federal government.

Berg described the Patriot Act as a "coup d'etat." He added: "It's not the same America I grew up in."

OK, Mr. Berg. Why don't you find another country to live in that suits you better? I suggest France or Germany.

Mr. Berg is a moron. There's not much more that can be said about it.

Excuse me, Mr. Berg, but don't people die for the sins of their fathers according to your religious traditions? If you want to characterize your son's death as a sacrifice for another's sins, oughtn't you consider yourself to be the one whose debt was paid?
You have no point, Mr Berg.

I saw this on WPVI ABC's affiliate in Philly and posted about it earlier. After thinking more about it I wanted to dig up an online link to it. The WPVI online link stops before the FRIENDS comment. As I type this I just saw it on FOX, so I know I'm not cracking up!!

Nick Berg was a pro-Bush conservative, and interested in being more religiously observant. His father, a "baby-boomer" is a leftist, angry liberal. They exemplify the differences between our generations which our community is experiencing.

Who was the Glick on flight 93? I know there was one that got lots of media attention in the days following 9/11.

"Nicholas' brother, David Berg, screamed at reporters to leave the property after a crowd of them moved forward to talk to a funeral director. Every arrival of a visitor or flower delivery van set reporters scrambling in the humid heat."

The press probably has ruined dozens of trees by perching on the branches and puking up sound bites when not hovering in circles....

"The DUmbass Kerry-Heinz couple probably will be dumb enough to send a few cases of Heinz ketchup and assorted tomato sauces......"

OT: I know the purchase of Heinz Ketchup has ZERO effect on the fortunes of Terresa and her gold-digging husband, but I had to run out last night and buy Ketchup for Meatloaf leftovers :) Couldn't get myself to purchase Heinz - LOL. Went with Hunt instead.

See #44....as you can see, I'm not convinced this is how a "grieving father" behaves.

and there were plenty of other WTC family people who felt the same way. The "Jersey Girls" for sure - for them, 9/11 was just their divorces and alimony settlements delivered in a different way.

...where reporters have been camped for two days despite requests from relatives that they be allowed to grieve in peace.

I am a reasonable man but had this been me I would most likely have pull out my 870 Express and told the reporters that they have exactly 5 minutes to leave before they become a part of a death due to insanity case.

Perhaps the terrorists were trying to negotiate the release of Berg?
