SOLDIERS KILL RPG GUNNERS

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Task Force Baghdad Soldiers killed six anti-Coalition insurgents in the early morning of May 12 during separate engagements spanning an hour's time in east Baghdad.

All six insurgents attacked Coalition patrols with rocket-propelled grenade launchers. There were no reports of Coalition injuries or damage to Coalition equipment or vehicles.

In all, Coalition patrols came under attack seven times during the morning. The seventh attack offered no opportunity for Coalition forces to make a positive identification of the enemy, so the patrol did not return fire.

6 out of 7 is really good, especially when number 7 is only a miss because our soldiers were showing restraint and discipline.

I don't know what those mullahs put in the insurgents kool-aid but it is something akin to stupid juice, they just don't understand that when you attack the Americans you will die.

The fact that all the attacks missed their target tells me the insurgents employed now aren't experienced. Could be that all the qualified gunners are attrited and the insurgents now have to rely on replacements. Good news if true.

Yes they are and that's my point. It takes a pretty disciplined soldier to employ them effectively since he's revealing his position by firing and his chances of surviving the return fire are pretty slim. Just looking at these results I'd have to say the insurgents weren't getting close enough or were firing without taking effective aim. Either way, the results speak for themselves.

I think the trick is to point, shoot and not get shot. When these thugs have to point a big tube at GI's they probably don't have much time for aiming.

I'm certain that many qualified gunners have been killed or captured. The casualty ratios are stacked extremely in our favor, the 700+ we've lost so far(God Bless) is tiny compared to theirs.
