I've never seen anything like it in American pop-culture. Joss Whedon just introduced a new character who's a bleached-blond United States Senator and who intends to become President in 2008. Her most trusted aid is a vampire, and she's a member of the Circle of the Black Thorn - the most evil assemblage of characters in the history of the greater Buffy-verse [kind of like a Justice League of America, only for evil, not good].
Talk about your full body slams... All I can say is: WOW!

You go Joss.
PS: Jonah Goldberg, did you catch this one?!?

You have GOT to watch this episode.
To: SlickWillard
We caught that one too. It's amazing because there were some veiled anti-Bush statements in the last few weeks but this one on Hillary was pretty blatant.
To: SlickWillard
What are you talking about. Not all of us watch the WB. What show?

What show? Angel. Tonight was the second to last episode. If you're in the Central Time Zone or later, you can still catch it [if you hurry]. Otherwise you'll have to wait for the re-run this summer, or else the DVD in a few years.

The horns coming out of some of the dude's heads are pretty creepy.

Joss is a self-described "liberal." Personally, my guess is Hillary's too far to the right for him. That's what I thought, as well, and I figured that this Senatrix they introduced tonight was supposed to be, at worst, Diane Feinstein, or Barbara Boxer, although I thought at the time that it was much more likely that she was supposed to be either a lowly California State Senator, or maybe a Republican like Kay Bailey Hutchinson.
But then her opponent turned out to be a flag waving Republican type, she blurted out that she intended to become president in 2008, and finally she showed up as a member of the Circle of the Black Thorn.
Whoa baby, life is too good tonight!!!

Joss is a self-described "liberal." Personally, my guess is Hillary's too far to the right for him. He actually seems to be more of a libertarian than a real liberal. Like the South Park guys, if you have a libertarian bent, you aren't really a liberal OR a conservative as the label is normally defined in this country, which makes it hard to identify a political affiliation.

Man, FOX screwed Firefly.

Not familiar with the show, but judging from the description I assume it's a documentary? No, "Angel" is a sci-fi/fantasy epic spun off from Buffy the Vampire-Slayer. Angel is a vampire cursed by Gypsies to be burdened with a soul [vampires are, in general, soul-less creatures]. He was in love with Buffy but he realized that his presence around her placed her in such grave danger that he left Sunnydale [Buffy's home town], moved to LA, and got his own series [Kinda like Frasier & Cheers]. Currently his main squeeze is a werewolve chick.
To: SlickWillard
werewolve = werewolf

Luckily Serenity is coming out next summer.
All of that happened solely because of the huge DVD sales.

You know, I've never really gotten into Angel. Something about that character rubbed me the wrong way, even on Buffy.
Whatever. If Whedon had the guts to take on (dictator in the making) Hillary tonight, then I'm going to have to look out for the summer rerun. It's about time someone in Hollywood takes a shot at the ice queen. Democrat or not, she never did anything for Hollywood anyway, so the lockstep loyalty of Hollywood to the Clinton's has always troubled me.
It's just like all the bands who rocked out for Gore in 2000, even though his wife tried to destroy rock music in general (and many of their careers) back in '85.
I guess it's no surprise though. Liberals, like Lemmings, can't even protect themselvelves.
To: Bogey78O
Snity now?

Can't wait!
