Ready for some SWEET Irony? (A vote in the Senate today)
Posted on 05/11/2004 10:30:31 PM PDT by GottaLuvAkitas1
It has been a very sad 24 hours, but I hope this brings at least one small smile of sweet irony to your face.
A vote in the senate today- "extension of unemployment benefits".
The DEMS lost by ONE vote. Guess who did not show up to vote today guys? John F Kerry war hero SELF ASSIGNED, and savior for the Dem. party.
Kerry wants to be president, but he can't even do the job he has now! Way to represent there Johnny!
Now is the time to laugh your a$$ off! LOL

Thank you for posting this. But, let me rant for a sec. Granted I have been paying more attention to Americans being beheaded with a pocket knife while Senator Kennedy takes another crap on the flag, and haven't been following this particular circle jerk. That being said... why are we even considering extending unemployment benefits with 5% unemployment and 2 straight months of great employment numbers? I am certainly glad that Kerry 'blew' the vote. But, why did it even get that close?

Do you think maybe a Republican or two voted for this just so they could reach the magic 59 and highlight Kerry's absence?

Irony is nice.

LOL It is a cool thought, but a bit risky.

Kerry is killing himself quite well without our help! LOL

Maybe because an industry that once was considered "miraculous" has exploded into nothing? Because even state agencies (FLA) are outsourcing tech jobs to India and the like.
I have a friend who is a brilliant analyst but because of his age will never work in the industry again, never make that kind of money again (most probably).

Damn. And John F'n Vietnam Kerry's going to need those benefits soon. I hear his constituents are growing embarrassed now that they see what he's *really* like.

Oh nonesense! If he's as pessimistic as you are he probably won't, but if he as any spark of ambition he'll be working again in no time.

Well... in that case, indefinite unemployment compensation should certainly be forthcoming.

"... why are we even considering extending unemployment benefits with 5% unemployment and 2 straight months of great employment numbers?"
Just because the unemployment rate is 5% doesn't mean that everyone is employed. The hardest hit are those people in rural areas, or those in a particular field. It takes time to adjust, obviously. If Kerry were a true contenda, he'd know that and woulda been there to vote.
