Thank you for posting this. But, let me rant for a sec. Granted I have been paying more attention to Americans being beheaded with a pocket knife while Senator Kennedy takes another crap on the flag, and haven't been following this particular circle jerk. That being said... why are we even considering extending unemployment benefits with 5% unemployment and 2 straight months of great employment numbers? I am certainly glad that Kerry 'blew' the vote. But, why did it even get that close?

Maybe because an industry that once was considered "miraculous" has exploded into nothing? Because even state agencies (FLA) are outsourcing tech jobs to India and the like.
I have a friend who is a brilliant analyst but because of his age will never work in the industry again, never make that kind of money again (most probably).

Just because the unemployment rate is 5% doesn't mean that everyone is employed. The hardest hit are those people in rural areas, or those in a particular field. It takes time to adjust, obviously. If Kerry were a true contenda, he'd know that and woulda been there to vote.
