Good versus Evil. Get used to it.

Posted on 05/11/2004 4:55:45 PM PDT by Pukin Dog

I just watched the Nick Berg decapitation video. I watched it three times. I downloaded it, and I intend to watch it again and again and again. I am going to watch it until I am sure that I will never again forget the difference between Good and Evil. Now I am going to run my mouth and hope it does some good.

I have been meaning to write a post regarding the Iraqi Prisoner abuse scandal, and its relationship to the earlier LTC West issue, where I was in the extreme minority who felt that West should have been prosecuted and thrown out of the Army. Now, today’s video, I feel compelled to address these issues with you good folks. Recently I had the opportunity to talk to a couple of WWII veterans about their war and ours, and the differences in the US from then to now.

I got the sense that people from that earlier generation feel that they saved us and failed us at the same time. They saved us by winning the war, but they failed us in allowing us to forget why they were willing to fight and die for you and me in such numbers. They talked about signing up for the Army the day after Pearl Harbor, how there was no doubt in their minds about what they were doing, no one questioning the rightness of their cause or suggesting that the US deserved what happened to us that day.

On a trip from San Diego to Washington, I stopped at the Air Museum in Tillamook OR. Do yourself a favor and visit the place if you ever are in the area. It is inside a huge Blimp Hanger where Blimps were stored between missions patrolling the Pacific Coast during the early days of WWII. It is next to an airfield where an F-14 that was donated to the museum blew a tire trying to stop on their 500 ft runway. They made it. Inside that museum, there are aircraft and other displays that do a very good job reminding visitors of the sacrifices made by those who came before us.

I felt a bit of shame that at the time I was on my way to Everett WA to learn about the Boeing 777, instead of back in the Navy flying the Tomcat in defense of my country. There are displays of former aviators who lost their lives, their ribbons laid out next to their uniforms, with their pictures on the walls. Men who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that you and I could sit back tonight and argue whether Shack or Kobe can come back against the Spurs, as if that was all we needed to be concerned about tonight.

Today, instead of enjoying my time off, I am filled with rage about what was done to that civilian by those bastard in sheets so brave they could not show their faces while they cut, no they SAWED that young mans head off while he screamed in agony. More so, I am outraged by the performance of the popular media. I am without Fox News in my hotel room tonight, so I have been forced to watch CNN tell me over and over that Taguba said that the Prisoner Scandal was a “failure of leadership” and cut the tape before Taguba can be shown saying “from the Brigadier General on down”, in a blatant attempt to spin what the man said to appear to be an indictment of the Bush administration. I have drawn my conclusion: CNN is Evil.

I watched as much of today’s hearings as CNN would show where it appeared that they would cut away whenever a positive point was being made. I watched Senator Byrd and the other Democrats poke and poke and poke, looking for anything that would fuel anger against President Bush, in clear disregard of what the witnesses said. Senate Democrats are Evil. I can’t help but be reminded that there are people in this country who actively support these Senators. They vote for them over and over again. In my book, Ted Kennedy is a murderer, yet he sits there passing judgment on others as though he was saintly against a President he considers to be beneath him. Teddy Kennedy is Evil personified. I see the Democrats and Media passing judgment on our President and I think of what they might be saying were this May of 1942, instead of 2004. Does anyone doubt that they would be actively working against our men fighting WWII?

These are sick people. SICK. The fact that they hold office means that at least 40% of this country is made up of either sick or stupid people. I did not risk my life for 22 years in the Navy defending these people, but the rest of the nation that keeps them at bay. I hope I was defending those who can disagree with the strategy and actions of our President, yet respect his integrity and honesty. Nothing bothers me more than to link to Free Republic and see a gathering of so-called Conservatives bashing our President because they have some disagreement with his actions. There is never any context or perspective, just attack. We don’t consider the enormous responsibilities of his office, when the most important thing some of us have to do each day is let out the cat. Why can’t we disagree without disrespect?

The hardest decision I will make today will be where I eat dinner. I won’t come online to attack people who are tasked with saving my life from terrorism, no matter how much I may disagree with a tactic or idea. Call me Bush-bot, say I drank the Kool-aid, say whatever, but don’t assume that while you sit there with a coke and a smile, that you know what its like to be someone in the Bush Administration responsible for your American ass, before you rush off to participate in some Web poll because you cant stand it if that poll disagrees with you to the point where you don’t mind making money the site that produced the poll you so desperately want to lean your way. Even if that site is CNN or MSNBC, whose mission is to take away your independence. WTF are you doing?

Folks it is our turn. If America is to remain true to the nation that those who went before us wanted it to be, we will never forget what those on the other side of the aisle are trying to do to us. I remember not too long ago, under a Democrat president, when I did not know if my squadron was going to be allotted the fuel and maintenance money necessary to keep our pilots skills up to par. Flight hours were cut and cut again, while Bill Clinton was trying to find ways to give more of your money to PBS and the NEA so that they could respectively lie and offend us. There are Democrats in Congress who think we landed on Mars, who can’t get a credit card, who have never had a private sector job, who take great pride in taking your money and giving it to some loser who couldn’t spell cat if you spotted them the C and the T. That is their constituency. They are EVIL.

I have no doubt that Bush is going to win in November. I know that that opinion is not shared among all of us, but I don’t know why not, when it is up to us to make it happen. If Bush does NOT win, it will be our fault, because we will have decided that what is going on right now against us is acceptable. We will have decided that our opponents on the left are just well-meaning people who just disagree with us on the issues, instead of the evil bastards they happen to be. I don’t know if every evil person knows themselves to be evil, and I don’t care. All I know is that while Americans are roasted, and hung on bridges like overcooked brisket, and soldiers are shot at from places of worship, and a civilian’s head swinging from the fist of a coward in a mask, CNN, the DNC and liberals all over the world are trying to blame my President for everything wrong in the world, instead of the evil perpetrators committing these actions.

At the same time, we give ratings to Chris Matthews, watch CNN’s commercials, listen to Don Imus, stay up for Nightline, and wish Joe Scarborough success as he forgets where he came from, so he can serve his liberal masters and keep his job. This is the last night I stay in a hotel that does not have FoxNews available. I may be crazy, but I don’t want to pay to be propagandized. I don’t want to hear anymore about how scandalous it is to embarrass an Iraqi terrorist, when these networks won’t even show these terrorists killing one of our people. We are at war with the Democrats and the Media, and if we are to save ourselves from their goals, we must hurt them where they will feel it. Just don’t watch. Don’t listen, and for god’s sake DON’T POLL. Make the bastards earn their money by become fair and balanced.

I’ve got a lot more to say, but my fingers hurt. If I offended you, just wait, because I’ll be back with more. If you get a chance, watch the video. It will hurt and disgust you, but it will remind you of what we are up against.

Hope you changed your mind about LtC West!

No, not one bit. If anything, I believe that West made it easier for others to forget their duty. I'm not talking about the soldiers who actually carried out their acts against the Iraqi prisoners, but primarily Gen. Karpinski, who tried to emulate West by going to the media in search of sympathy and support. Unlike West, she actually blamed others and lied about being kept from sections of her own prison. West wrapped himself in the flag and tried to escape from the very same behavior that he himself had turned in his own men. He says he would die for his men, but he turned them in for the same thing he did later. I believe he should have forfeited his pension and spent 6 months behind bars. We wont make the same mistake with Karpinski, she is going down. Leaders carry a higher responsibility. If they don't want it, they can get the F out.

Good post.

I've chosen not to watch the video. I watched the Daniel Pearl one, and with this American apparently screaming until the third cut, I have no need to watch it to get my bile and anger up.

A feww weeks ago I told my husband that there was no way in hell Kerry would be elected, not on my watch. And when things like this happen, it makes me even more intent on that.

Thanks for expressing the feelings I have about the evil in the world and in our own country. People better wake up, or its only going to get worse and worse.

Very well said!!

The media and others are responsible for this murder. They played the picture of the prisoner stuff over and over and over. They inflamed the terrorists even more with every story. It may very well affect all of us here soon!! How many more murders will occur?

I have been e-mailing the news channels for the past two weeks telling them to STOP showing those pictures and that they would be responsible if someone was murdered because of their constant 24/7 coverage of this story.

CBS, The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal all of them. The ones who leaked the pictures to the NYer as well as the jackasses in abu Gharaib prison, the newspapers who put the pictures on the front page day after day. CBS by airing the pictures after being asked to delay by Gen Myers because they were trying to embarrass our Secretary of Defense and our President strictly for political reasons. They were all like starving dogs with a bone. They just couldn't stop. They just couldn't let the military handle this problem.

Then there are the bozo (as Tom Tancredo calls them) Senators who had to boost their egos on TV, had to have those hearings didn't you? Not just on C-Span but ABC NBC and CBS, anchors all breathlessly awaiting their turn to get a dig in after the hearings. They preempted every daytime show so everyone could hear the horrible details. Kennedy, Byrd, Clinton, Dayton, all of you are responsible for this mans death. You just couldn't leave it alone and for what political end? To elect Kerry? Now you are all known as the scum WE knew you were but more people will know now.

Today I wrote my in-laws a letter, sent along information from various FR sources that illustrate the differences between the right and left and the lefts' treachery. I urged them to vote Bush. I've decided to keep sending them stuff every few weeks.

Good job with your sister.

Honey, I am in Louisiana. You are in Virginia. I have a bunch of sisters. Southern girls are all alike. The worst revenge on a fellow sister is to leave her out of lunch and talk about how mean she is. I know southern women, bless their hearts.

That is exactly right and I wake up in the middle of the night and lay there are fret and fume about it. What in the HELL is wrong with half of my country? Why on God's Green Earth would ANYBODY vote for Ted Kennedy or John Kerry? Who are these aliens? Why would ANYBODY answer a poll about Iraq and say it was not worth it? Why, for God's sake WHY would ANYBODY give the enemy the satisfaction? Because they are the damn enemy too. Or else they are from another damn. I don't know very many liberals (thank God) but there are days I would love to just verbally abuse the first liberal I come across.

Wonderful, terrific, awesome, magnificent, brilliant, superb, stellar editorial. Thank you so much for writing it and giving me a little piece of hope and sanity today.

P.S. I want the first autographed copy of your book, PD. :o)

"There was a JAG lawyer on Fox this morning who didn't think Karpinski would do any time. I was suprised."

Considering the people her (non)Command embarrassed and humiliated (The Joint Chiefs, SecDef, the President, the country, and the ENTIRE active-duty US military, all of whom now want her scalp), and the fact that her subsequent actions, and those of her subordinate Officers have been ABYSMAL, to say nothing of absolutely without any honor or dignity befitting their rank, I would be SHOCKED if she didn't do time.

The dynamics regarding her and her band of merry "men" are FAR more than some talking head could comprehend.

Hey, Commander, heard anything from the Puzzle Palace about "BG" Karpinski's future? (Or lack of same)
