No, not one bit. If anything, I believe that West made it easier for others to forget their duty. I'm not talking about the soldiers who actually carried out their acts against the Iraqi prisoners, but primarily Gen. Karpinski, who tried to emulate West by going to the media in search of sympathy and support. Unlike West, she actually blamed others and lied about being kept from sections of her own prison. West wrapped himself in the flag and tried to escape from the very same behavior that he himself had turned in his own men. He says he would die for his men, but he turned them in for the same thing he did later. I believe he should have forfeited his pension and spent 6 months behind bars. We wont make the same mistake with Karpinski, she is going down. Leaders carry a higher responsibility. If they don't want it, they can get the F out.
