Islamic Web site claims revenge killing Video shows beheading of man identified as AmericanBREAKING NEWS The Associated Press Updated: 1:28 p.m. ET May 11, 2004CAIRO, Egypt - A video posted Tuesday on an Islamic militant Web site showed a group affiliated with al-Qaida beheading an American civilian in Iraq, saying the death was revenge for the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by American soldiers.

The video showed five men wearing headscarves and black ski masks, standing over a bound man in an orange jumpsuit — similar to a prisoner’s uniform — who identified himself as Nick Berg, a U.S. contractor whose body was found on a highway overpass in Baghdad on Saturday.

“My name is Nick Berg, my father’s name is Michael, my mother’s name is Susan,” the man said on the video. “I have a brother and sister, David and Sarah. I live in ... Philadelphia.”

After reading a statement, the men were seen pulling the man to his side and putting a large knife to his neck. A scream sounded as the men cut his head off, shouting “Allahu Akbar!” — “God is great.” They then held the head out before the camera.

Berg was a small-business owner from the Philadelphia suburbs, his family said Tuesday.

The media does not identify themselves personally as Christian - they were offended when presidential candidate G W Bush spoke of his admiration for Jesus Christ. Their outrage at supposedly unchristian acts by prison guards is entirely contrived for their purpose of humiliating our own President.

Remember when Barney Frank's "lover" was running a prostitution ring from their property? What do you think was going on right in Washington DC in the Senator's quarters at that time? Anything much different than what is shown in the Iraq prison pictures, or things even more vile? Where are the photos and videos of that outrage? I'll bet someone was taking pictures.... why hasn't the media shown us? Hmmm... perhaps some esteemed reporters were clients at that house of shame....

Yes, where is the outrage now? It's okay for them to behead our people, but we're going to court-martial our soldiers for what amounts primarily to humiliation of Iraqi prisoners? Prisoners who, I might add, have either done (or would do given the opportunity) far worse to our people.

I wonder if the video of American Nick Berg's beheading will be shown in the American media? I think it's something Americans need to see before uttering one more word of apology for, and outrage at, our military's actions.

"For the mothers and wives of American soldiers, we tell you that we offered the U.S. administration to exchange this hostage with some of the detainees in Abu Ghraib and they refused," one of the men read from a statement.

"So we tell you that the dignity of the Muslim men and women in Abu Ghraib and others is not redeemed except by blood and souls. You will not receive anything from us but coffins after coffins ... slaughtered in this way."

The video bore the title "Abu Musab al-Zarqawi shown slaughtering an American." It was unclear whether al-Zarqawi – a lieutenant of Osama bin Laden – was shown in the video, or was claiming responsibility for ordering the execution.

The Web site on which the video was posted is known as a clearing house for al-Qaida and Islamic extremist groups' statements and tapes.

Sorry, but the way I see it is the military had already put a stop to the "torture", was investigating and perps would have paid.

But NO-O-OH! The dim pols and their media lackeys had to expose the pictures, rumors, hoaxes etc. because after all "the people have a right to know" - we knew, prosecution was underway, it was being handled - and certainly handled better than any of the critics could ever do.

This blood is on the hands of the media and power mad dim pols in Washington.

Right now the dim/pols and media should be hanging their heads in shame, but they won't they will shrilly spin this too.

The partisan media has made a huge mis-judgement on this story. it isnt their first mis-judgement in this war, either.

This one is providing aid to the enemies propaganda war, and costing American lives. I fear there will be more, with the report of possibly more missing Americans in an Iraqi convoy attack today.

The soldiers at the prison made some serious mistakes and some committed criminal actions while on duty. They should be punished in the context of the crime they committed, and the punishment should fit the crime.

On the other hand, we are fighting wild animals who would rather decapitate our hostages and execute captives in an act of supposed revenge than hold them as prisoners. There is no attempt on their part to even act humanely towards our military personnel whatsoever.

There is simply co comparing the two sides, yet the media does so and gives our enemy the moral edge. I am absolutely dubmfounded at this.

I've said this before, and I will say it again. When a political party captures the media to such extent they act as a propaganda arm of the political party, you are well on the road to totalitarianism and tyranny.

If we love America as it exists today, or as it has existed for over 200 years, we had better start realizing what our politicians are doing to this couontry, and how the media is helping them make it happen.

Agreed. These murderers piggybacked on the acts of the media, but I cannot overlook the fact that these pigs decided to respond to those 'indignities' with the mutilation and death of a fellow American. There is no moral equivalence here, and no 'dignity' to insult.
