Islamic Web site claims revenge killing Video shows beheading of man identified as AmericanBREAKING NEWS The Associated Press Updated: 1:28 p.m. ET May 11, 2004CAIRO, Egypt - A video posted Tuesday on an Islamic militant Web site showed a group affiliated with al-Qaida beheading an American civilian in Iraq, saying the death was revenge for the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by American soldiers.

The video showed five men wearing headscarves and black ski masks, standing over a bound man in an orange jumpsuit similar to a prisoners uniform who identified himself as Nick Berg, a U.S. contractor whose body was found on a highway overpass in Baghdad on Saturday.
My name is Nick Berg, my fathers name is Michael, my mothers name is Susan, the man said on the video. I have a brother and sister, David and Sarah. I live in ... Philadelphia.
After reading a statement, the men were seen pulling the man to his side and putting a large knife to his neck. A scream sounded as the men cut his head off, shouting Allahu Akbar! God is great. They then held the head out before the camera.
Berg was a small-business owner from the Philadelphia suburbs, his family said Tuesday.

Yeah, I figured that out. I have another thread with the details I discovered. It's
right here.

The victim, Nick Berg, was a Bush supporter. So you see, it *was* Bush's fault. Or the DUmmies will say, not to mention ABCCBSAOLTIMEWARNERCNN.

I think we should retaliate by beheading the Editor of Al Jazerah. Oh, I think a 2000 pound JDAM on their HQ in the middle of the work day, followed by a MOAB of course, should be sufficient.

I'd settle for videos of Americans jumping from the WTC - but that's too "inflammatory". I wonder how many of us were thinking exactly the same thing today!
Just a little while ago, as I was watching Big Story with my husband, I reminded him how we weren't allowed to view the people jumping from the towers after the attack.
I said it was time to bring those videos out so all Americans will remember what the war on terror is all about.

There is enough blame to go around --- but the religion of peace is what held the knife to the poor man's neck.

"One MOAB per dead American."
Ditto, and put it wherever people cheer about the murder.

So true! Have they said who gave this evidence to the press? No, the media shelters their own traitors.

"the religion of peace" should be a capital crime in America. There is no doubt but that we are at war with the sons of evil.

You'd think out of all the people in the world who would like to come to the USA that we wouldn't be importing muslims. Why not allow immigration of those who support us, who aren't killing us --- maybe who even like us a little --- like Samoans ---- why do we want to bring the problems of the Middle East into the USA?

It isn't that the GC doesn't apply to other than uniformed combatants, but that it does address that possibility.
It lays out that uniformed combatants are given special protection as POWs and get repatriation etc without punishment as they are acting in behalf of the cause of a nation.
Repatriation given to a fighter with no allegiance, instead fighting only to be fighting us, allows him to resurface again and again.
As far as expecting the terrorists to respect distinctions, we'd be fooling ourselves. Treaties like this are meant for civilized nations acting as such and terrorist groups intentionally conduct themselves to stay outside of such boundaries and confines.
Would arab Al Qeada mujihaddin, who were captured in Afghanistan respect the end to hostilities, have taken repatriation, and have gone home?
They have proven they will repeatedly adhere to the fight alone, wherever it takes them, and not to a nation or state and they therefore can't be afforded such easy treatment.
Poor young idealistic Berg was captured prior to the Prison Photos and those photos were just propaganda icing on an execution or other demonstration already slated for the purposes of jihhadists.

"The insurgents want retribution? Then let's give it to them!"
I agree...like on Japanese commander said about Pearl Harbor...[paraphrasing] "...they may have awakened a sleeping giant..."
If we aren't going to make that place a parking lot of molten glass, then let's start drilling for oil in Alaska and let them all rot on the vine.

Just out of curiosity ... how intertwined do you think this notion is with the fact that most, if not all, nations who originally confected and subsequently signed on to Geneva had the power to draft men against their wishes into the military absent a physical deficiency or conscientious objection?

1 box of ammo = $21.50/20= $1.07. 1 bullet = $1.07 + 1 towel wrapped mask terrorist / 1 marine = the $1.07 solution to terrorist!
